First pic is a Cessna Citation 500. Looks like ZS-MCU. 2nd pic looks like a learjet 35. Will google the citation and see what it says but it could very well be true as the 500 is an old aircraft.

I'm sure these planes were parked up next to the flying school at Lanseria for years.

I have an idea the Learjet may have belonged to Westjet. If it did, I believe it hit a dog on landing in Moz, and although it was repaired and flown back it didn't return to active service as the owner left the country shortly after. (Of course I may be mistaken, a frequent occurrence the days)

LWB do you have any info regarding the Cheetah that took off from ORT yesterday? Just saw something from Aviation Central on Instagram and a short video.

Negative. What time? I was here yesterday, never heard a thing. My workshop is basically the furthest side of technical from the runway but I am up on the 2nd/top floor and if they using 21R for departure I can see them nicely from my desk. As I left yesterday 2 safair 800s took off from 21R but not sure if that was the chosen runway all day.

Bit of a polish and good to go hey, LWB you sign off the paperwork and we have a little charter jet, could carry a fair wack of contraband smokes under cover of darkness.......

Just kidding, that is vrot, would make a lekker holiday cottage in my garden with suitable design and thought going into it!

That A380 is butt ugly. Justifies it's name.

Sure is, but hands down my favourite ride to and from work/simulator as a cattle class pax in the back. My few upgrades to “bizniz” were awesome.......far superior to the Trip7.

Man.......super happy, flying out on EK later this month, back to work!! Well after sim recurrent.

I have had to delay my sim 6 times since April and have cancelled Dallas to continue with Dubai’s booking. I have been nervous of Texan Covid!

Not sure when I will eventually return home but after what will be nearly 5 months at home I think the Missus is going to be very happy to drop me at the airport ha ha!

Can you post a link to the video ?

I had a chat to the pilot this morning after our ride, but I am not on Instagram.

Yeah as you would know very well, a plane stands and the snags increase faster than a politicians bank balance. That thing would need a major check. I used to work on Cessna plenty and I still to this day miss my Cessna days. Such a lekker aircraft. BUT I only worked on 100, 200, 300 and 400 series. We never had 500 series license. So I have worked on pressurised but only piston engines.

Anybody in SA built a full scale Steen Skybolt D?

Would love to look at one face to face. I bought plans for a 30% from Wendell Hostetler, and will probably start the build late next year.

I just read that the ILS (Instrument Landing System) at ORT is off due to the calibration having expired.

CAA haven't replaced the calibration aircraft that crashed a couple of months ago.

Could be a disaster waiting to happen.

I doubt it’s as drastic as that.

The ILS is static equipment for the most part, although re-calibration is required for a number of reasons that will results minuscule changes, at most. It is mostly a confirmation exercise.
