Just "discovered" Flight Radar after seeing the posts here.

Damn you all to hell! Productivity blown.

Propably the first app I spent money on but so worth it.  I don't just use it to browse for flights in general but also use it often when we have family and friends visiting us to track their flights.  Been using the app for 7+ years already. So you know well in advance if a flight is delayed or not and if so you will know if they made up the time or not and be at the airport in time to meet them.

Last year I happen to spot this flight and was monitoring it all day while working.

One of the things I love about FR24 is if you go at night and see all the aircraft going from Europe to America. It looks like a highway at rush hour. So amazing to see how many aircraft are flying at once. I read a fact once that if every servicable aircraft was on the ground at once, there would not be enough surface area for them all the park.

Funny you should say that. I've got these two on the desk. Built them a few years ago, before I sold my model kit stash. Amazing how expensive that hobby has become.

Don't throw these away. Those things will become highly collectable one day once the various plants making those kits close down. Kids these days are not interested in building these anymore.

Pilot humour - not even Trevor Noah can beat it.

I'll keep these because of the detailing and hours I put in (kit building is an unbelievable time-sink).

There's an amazing amount of buying and selling that goes on locally on a closed Facebook forum. When I sold my kits (about 400, mostly race cars) they were snapped up in hours. And some of them that I shipped to Oz sold for around R8k apiece (couple of limited edition Model Factory Hiro kits of Senna's Williams and Toleman - his first and last great races).

I actually think that model building might revive, with 3D printing. Kind of brings tech and model building together, which might entice a new generation.

Also remember hearing that once and it blew my mind. Same as there are apparently not enough parking spaces in London and NYC for the yellow cabs/taxi's to all be parked at the same time, a minimum of 80% have to be on the road at all times.

9/11 it was a huge challange to park all the aircraft as there was simply not space at all the airports involved

You should have seen ORT and Lanseria on the night of the Soccer world cup final in 2010. I saw pictures of Lanseria but saw first hand here. We were called in to come work OT. It was flipping quite and then within an hour of the whistle going the airport was probably the busiest it has ever been. We were fueling and pushing aircraft back like crazy. The 2 teams in the final both had aircraft parked here and as soon as Spain won the Iberia A340-300 got pulled into our paint hanger and our painters painted world champs on it. The paint was literally still wet when it left. In about 3/4 hours all the aircraft left and it went quite. It was very late at night so was just so surreal to be part of. Even our manager was fueling aircraft with us.

With the soccer world cup we went to Lanseria.  I wanted to catch a glimpse of Travolta plane.  Ended up taking pictures of a turbo prop making a belly landing on the runway.

I met him!!!! and his wife and his entire crew. He shook my hand and personally thanked me for helping with his plane. He is pale though, a weird looking guy actually. Was wearing black jeans, black T-shirt and a black cap. His wife is pretty cool. His 707 is seriously awesome, unfortunately they wouldn't let me on, his engineer was chatting to me quite a bit and says that thing is mint inside and a lot has been changed.

Kelly Preston is a serious babe. I read that they finally split recently?

Anyone monitor the Aviation am hf airbands? Kit?

I have a hand held Icom Xceiver from my ppl flying days, but that is a bit cumbersome to use if you want to keep tabs on a couple of bands (like the approach and radar sectors) .  but setting up with a SDR dongle and software to scan designated frequencies also got a decent all band discone antenna that must go up on my roof, project is stalled until that is down.

The idea is get a headsup on an incoming, then take a look at Flight tracker, then hopefully eyeball the heavy as it floats down on downwind for 03

Considering his “choices” you probably had more chance of boarding Kelly instead.
