Bike Hub Weight Challenge 2019

Recommended Posts

I have thought of doing this before, just had one concern and that was how I will feel on the bike without eating in the morning and then only eating at midday.  This is however dependent on one of 2 things.  Did you follow this fasting process even when doing a 3-4 hour ride the next morning?  Or only when doing a 1-2 hour ride?  I can probably go read up on it but find real world experience more valuable.

i did it for a long time, and use to ride 4 hours without eating anything. worked a charm for me.

Like it has been mentioned, the first few weeks can be tricky, and if you try to go long you will hit a wall but after a while it gets better.

You're actually telling people (with already high BMIs) to eat foods which are loaded in saturated fat, have a high caloric density, known to promote CVD and which are carcinogenic and to avoid a food which is actually protective against CVD and lowers LDL and total cholesterol?!

Yip, high fat moderate, protein , zero carbs. The food all of us consumed for the first 6-12 months of our lives for millions of years. It wiped out the entire species.

I fell into OMAD almost naturally last year when on a LCHF lifestyle. The lack of real hunger made it just happen. I eat in the evening and do my training early morning. As I became fat adapted I never had any energy problems during or after training.

Thanks for the info, I normally train late afternoons/early evenings in the week and mornings on the weekend.  Will see how this goes for a few weeks - am pretty sure I will be able to sustain it.

I enjoy a bowl of oats for breakfast as well, and it makes me feel full - so much so that sometimes I don't have lunch until 2pm. Although there are mornings where I'll full up on coffee and go without breakfast.

you can train your body to do just about anything...trust me when i tell you this...as i have experimented with many things...including not eating before...during and after rides...i went from drinking 3 litres of water...energy bars snack bars...race food you name it...down to barely finishing a 750 ml bottle and nothing else.

there is only one question you need to ask yourself...is what you are doing the right thing for your body.

i took everyones advice last year and spent the R950 to go see a specialist...said to be one of the best in the industry...her advice to me...before you do any damage to your body...fuel your body.

when i got my first lot of blood test results...the first thing the doctor pointed out to me was the importance of drinking water while training or racing...he pointed out that the amount of athletes who damage their organs due to a lack of hydration is ridiculous.

what is the right or best diet/eating plan...i wish i knew...we can fly to the moon but we cant even find the cause of cancer...i believe we eat ourselves sick.

at the moment that one thing that makes everything work is lacking...discipline.

every excuse under the sun is preventing me from getting motivated.

i have noticed the world is full of new years resolution...weightloss seems to be at the top of everyones list

Going to join again this year. Last year started well for me, but lost my mojo 3 months in. Hoping to get back into it properly this year.

I'll join again. I'm happy to see it's no longer a weight loss challenge as I'll probably use the motivation to weigh in every month to maintain, even though I wouldn't horribly mind if I lose a few more kg.

Came back from holiday yesterday, scale this morning told me I am 2kg lighter than when I left. It might just be from the lack of yummy goodies that are so prevalent before Christmas. The aim is to keep the scale from going back up, maybe even try get it to move down a little bit, but I'll be happy if it stays where it currently is.
