My plans for next year in regards to my cycling is as follows:

I want to train hard from the beginning of 2019.

I want to win races and not just be in the top 5 or top 10! I want to concentrate on my strengths and work on them. I am good at sprints and I will definitely be winning some races in 2019.

in 2013 i beat Hoffman in a hard sprint in the 3rd stage of kremetart , i believe i am the fastest sprinter in the world.

Here is some of my results:

Emperors Palace Race - 2018 - 12th place. 2017 - 6th place and 3rd at the MTB race 2015 - 12th place.

Bestmed cycle 4 cansa - 2018 - 21st place.

Bestmed satellite road classic - 2015 - 19th place.

Midvaal 100 cycle challenge - 2014 - 5th place.

Sondela Bela bela road race - 2014 - 2nd place.

Serengeti classic road race 2014 - 10th place.

These are a few of my best results, I know they will only get better.

It has always been my dream to race and race professionally. I have done it for one year, but broke my wrist in that time when I was on my peak. At the end of that year unfortunately the sponsor could not continue because of personal reasons. I still have a passion for racing and will always try my best in a race.

Best regards

Yours in racing

Clinton,

Maybe help if you can give more info on what you need money for and possibly how much (even if you send it via PM).

If you need entry money, what events are you planning todo, maybe one can get compilatory entries.

If you need money for services .. what bikes do you have (maybe bike shop can help out with specific brand)

etc etc

You will need to bit more specific …  :)

Maybe go look and learn how Jean Spies presents himself on social media.

Asking for money on an alias account on thehub is not going to crack it.

Take this not as criticism but info to use going forward:

Since that 2nd in 2013 your best result in SA has come in 2014 with a 2nd. Since then there has been a overall regression in your results locally and not progression. While I have no idea why or what variables influenced that there has been a decline on paper.

You now want to go overseas and win races at level way above what is locally in SA and the depth is a lot deeper. To me doesn't seem like a justifiable process and a smart plan.

You mentioned you want to work on your strengths and make them stronger. What about your weakness? that to me would be plan 1, make your weakness stronger and your overall level off that alone will be increase and be elevated. Then once that is done, make your strengths better.
You trying to put a roof on a house with no walls.

I would also start doing that now and not at the start of the 2019 season, you will be on the back foot all year.

My .1c advice:

Forget World Tour, focus on local and get results, build confidence and get noticed. In winter got to Europe and focus on races and terrain that suites you, again, get a result and get confidence and noticed. Work the ladder.

You not going from The Hub to World Tour with a 2nd to Nolan in 2013 at 1 race.

Please dont take this personally its just advice to show you a step by step process on how to get to goal which is often overlooked by a bigger goal.

I reckon that Wakefield has offered up some very sound advice. Going to race in Europe as road kill is tantamount to asking fellow cyclists to fund a working holiday.

Show your metal in the local events, so that when you get a GoFunMe going, we recognize the name.

As has been said - get the results first and the funding will come...BUT read my last comment....

Having said that though Jean Spies who has been mentioned above has a UK based financial sponsor providing backing for him to race the track world cup circuit as no local sponsor has been willing to come forward with the large amounts of cash required. He does have a few backers willing to give small amounts of cash when needed...he also has many product sponsors which are always welcome and he is grateful for, however you can't pay for plane tickets with product...

In terms of budget, last year alone they (he and his manager) spent over R800k in travels and the like.

Sponsorship money is still not flowing in though - even being ranked in the top 20 in the world in his disciplines...so even getting results does not guarantee funding....just as funding does not guarantee results...

Hi Clinton

When last did you do a FTP test and where does that put your watts per kg?

I had a look on Strava, not a lot of activity on there. Might be like Myles though, he also doesn't log his beeeeg rides on there  :whistling:

Not trying to be negative at all. Great to have ambition. Perhaps a very clear, detailed personal statement, with clarity around your current position, your needs etc may be more effective than fairly abrupt answers to questions that shouldn’t really have to be asked if you are seeking financial support. Bold statements about your sprinting ability are one thing, but perhaps a bit more of a detailed approach might yield better outcomes. Mr Wakefield above speaks a lot of sense. Your results highlighted above wouldn’t support your statements, so perhaps you need to rethink how you sell yourself.

Having said all of that, even with the best CV in the world, I am unsure that the hub is a prime location for would be sponsors looking for talent. Once again, perhaps follow some of the above advice from others more knowledgeable than you or me.
