Hahaha

I saw this and thought it could be quite fun.. until i saw the price:

So basically it looks like i just need a seat stay mounted bike rack, im suspecting the Thule ones will be over priced

So if anyone can recommend any that would be awesome!

Thanks for the heads up!

I think on my last ride my gear came closer to 20kg so is a definite no then.

Seatpost isn't carbon, it's a 150mm giant dropper

Oh and forgot to mention earlier that the rear hub is non boost (142x12) if that helps anyone...

Posted a pic of the actual bike i intend of using for fun also.

Super dooper nice bike [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

Basically u cant the crate in half and then fit the one into the other and cable tie together and onto the frame.

Trying to find pics

That's actually a bloody good suggestion. Cable ties are strong AF, especially the larger ones. Enough of those fastening the crate to the seatstays, and you're golden!

if they don't have it in SA why not have it made up? When is the burn? If you have time I would have it made(well I would build my own) and it would be even stronger.

Have 4 clamps for seat stays made with a rubber lining so it doesn't slip or damaged the frame the rest is easy building it out of mild or stainless to the size you want need.

Tie a big red flag on your bike so you are visible. If that road is dusty you can't see much.

also consider a BRIGHT flashing tail-light ....

That dust is conducive to safe driving ...

Yep, he uses them every year up the west coast. From saldanha to springbok, mainly gravel roads. I would prefer something with a lid tho.

My suggestion is to ride up to Ceres then take the R303. Then cut through to Tankwa Padstall. The road from Ceres gets busy and dusty. This route will be a bit longer but much more beautiful and the road should be much quieter. I rode there last year and have ridden that road before. If there is a head wind GOOD LUCK. It gets bloody tough. But man it is super fun. Give most of your gear to your mates. Just take what you need for the journey up there. If you are in CT and want to chat about it send me a DM.

I've just bought some Salsa Anything HD Cages, which I've attached to my suspension fork with big cable ties and each of them hold an 8l dry bag with ease. Might be another option for you.

On a more serious note, if you are taking a sexy bike like that to a mass camping / jolling event, I would recommend you also look at a VERY secure manner in which to secure your lovely bike!
