Not sure here, I am 109 kg and seem to be fine with pretty much any bibs. Still fitting into my Large bibs at a stretch

Rapid Sports, Anatomic etc. no name brands. I like to 500 to 900zar bibs. They are good for me for 4 to 16 hrs in the saddle.

However now that I am not riding much I have a saw ass after the 1st 4 or 5 hr ride after a few weeks.

Any particular saddle you favor?

My best shorts are by far my Giordana Forma red carbon bibs... The pad is super comfy and the fit is excellent.

I'm not impressed with assos... From pat to cut to fit, they're not great... Materials used are superb but theyre not amazing.

For shorter rides, I've got some mtn branded vermarc bibs and they're excellent too, but you do feel a longer ride...

Cheap bibs, I've found that most of them either have crappy cuts or terrible pads.... Best so far are second skins...

Anatomic, I love their product and brand but the bibs don't impress me... I find they compensate for a local body geometry and it results in loose and shifting pad... Maybe I had the wrong size tho...

For reference, I'm 115 at the moment and a 40 waist, road and MTB.

Bibs are personal preference. Everyone will tell you something else. I own a R1500 Velotex bib (Large), and a cheap china import(XXL) full kit for R350 from Wish. I'm just over 90kg(Down from 125.1kg with the same bibs). For 5-6 hour rides I reach for that china bib. Feels more comfortable and better quality than the Velotex bib I have. On my stock standard Syncros XR1.5 saddle. Fitted a Selle Italia for a while, but changed back.

I have this problem with my Anatomic Platinum Bib, which is a medium and I usually use a large/xl in the other brands so its definitely not "big" on me.

Riding Ciovita corsa bib for 2 weeks now, they are good and have a great feel to it.

Fizik Areone, but this is way personal. It took me years to find the correct one, now it is mtb and road

i have 1 each (velotex, indoola and CWC) and im also around 108kg. I must be honest they all fit very well, good protection for the mushy bits, but my fave is definetely the Velotex one. its about 9 years old already and still going strong.

saddles arent based on what you like... they either fit your sit bones or they dont .

get your ass measured (assometer) and buy the correct width then get into what model you like you will be more comfortable and waste less time and cash .

check out the classified section for all the "used once " saddles (lots of brooks and ariones) that guys bought because they where just hoping it would work or it looked cool ....

bibs as mentioned above are very personal and a very expensive time consuming journey to find one that suits you and your ass sometimes its a cheapie and sometimes not ..

and then when it comes to long hours in the saddle it is also a lot about Rule#5

Thin and harder padding works for me (105kg) specially if you have big/strong thighs(there is just less material to form folds ...) .
And when it comes to choose a saddle you will have to test but definitely get your sit bones measured. I tested at least 7 saddles before i found my happy place on a SQ Lab saddle.

I am 91kg.  Not big boned, just heavy.

I find the Indola enduro bibs (well priced too) are the best.  I have some Rapha pro bibs which are not as good.  Third in the list is some Ciovita ones I have.

For general riding (under 2 hours) I dont mind a mix I have of Fox liners from baggies / Rapid Sport orange padding inside ones / and some FWE ones I bought in the UK.

But the Indola ones are the best for me.

For the heavier road riders out there, mass >= 90 kg, what's your most comfortable bib shorts and saddle combo for 4hr+ rides?

I am 95kg

Saddle: Fizik Antares or Spaz Henge Comp - they are both 143mm wide

Shorts: Vermarc or Ciovita or Indola trail shorts

Good shorts won't hide a bad saddle

or

the shorts will have to be really inferior to cause you problems, if you have the right saddle
