And I would put money on the fact the perp was fiddling her cellphone while driving...and this ended up with your little one under her car's wheels...

I get so mad when I see MORONS with cellphones driving a car. On the N7 in Cape Town last week, I passed a bakkie in the left lane. He was furiously typing on his mobile, while looking at the screen. He was going 80kph+, and his passenger was holding the wheel...There was a bus about 100m ahead of him.

next issue for me is cheap data. People will be streaming youtube/series etc in traffic.

Hell Pants, I am just really glad that Little Pants is "ok" .. it could have been far worse ... looking at her pic in the pink cast, she seems like a great little being that has taken this in her stride.

Hope you can get this mess sorted out, and properly.

There is no BUT in a hit and run!

Glad your daughter is ok ( relatively speaking ) .

Please keep us updated on the case going forward , even though I think you in for the long haul .

Glad your daughter is ok.

Please dont accept any apology or excuse for fleeing the scene and even denying anything.

Try and get as much as possible charged against the driver.  People in general need to slow down, its just pathetic!

This.    If you need any contribution, just let me know and I will be more than willing to help in an open and shut case like this.

.....even for that smile, as Slobee said, it is worth it!

Good job on staying calm and hope your kid heals up soon. Judging from the photo your daughter is strong is hell.

The i10 driver can expect some retribution for sure!

I was thinking an old beat-up clapper with a solid full-frontal bull-bar. use it to gently "persuade" them to stop their shee-aait...

[edit] - Have a dash-cam and go-pro rigged to catch them in the act prior to persuasion being applied.

On one of my previous cars, i used to be able to trip the alarm with the remote. Used to catch plenty motorists on cellphones. Would let the siren go off for a few seconds and watch how they drop they phone. Of course my car being white also helped then.

I had a colleague who drove the same road as me to work every morning, and on more than one ocassion I came up behind him in traffic - his phone in his hands on the steering wheel streaming Youtube!!

We kaked this guy out on multiple ocassions, and the wake up call finaly came when he took out a police motorbike (parked) on the N1 attending to an accident. Wrote off his car, the motorbike, and nearly smashed into the police officer too.

Luckily for him they did not charge him as there were no traffic cones placed out yet (this happened soon after the police bike was parked) and in this case he was glancing down at his phone used as a GPS, and not streaming Youtube.

Long story short, this guy got the scare of a lifetime and is probably one of the most law abiding drivers I know now - won't even answer the phone with his bluetooth handsfree setup anymore. So people can change.

Let's hope that if this girl is ever allowed behind the wheel of a car again, that this incident serves as that wake-up call for her.

So glad yoir precious little one is not more seriously injured. Traumatic for us as parents to even for a moment think the unthinkable.

It has been observed so often that the moral fabric is so badly damaged that self preaervation and escape from punishmebt governs the actions of so many people in our society.

Well done on handling it so well OP... admirable... keep us posted on what happens in the months ahead.

Now I am curious

I was first on a black and green Axis then on black and yellow Merida - used to ride past you up Stead road uphill near Queens Corner :)

I remember we chatted about commuting on here ages ago.

The problem is that it took an accident to happen before people  realise what they are doing.
