Had ESI Chunkies before and loved them, but now using ODI Rogues on 2 bikes and love them too. The Rogues are nice and big. Not so lekker of you're a weight-weenie though.

The one and only thing I didn't like on the Silicone grips including the ESI is the feeling when riding without gloves and it's hot. That slimy feeling, ughgh.

ESI Extra Chunky - I wait for them to come on special then i buy 2 or 3 sets, last time they were on special at CWC.

I always wanted to try the MoreLuv grips from Luvhandles I understnd they almost the same dims as ESI Extrachunkies but never got the opportunity because they never had stock - If they are the same or similar quality at 150 ronds they a bargain

Luvhandles don't last long, around 3 months they start losing shape and start throttling.

Extra chunky is not for everyone, rather check them on a bike first they are thick for smaller hands/grip they may be an issue

DMR death grips or Sensus Swayze lock on. Both get more tacky when you sweat, both last ages and both are soft and soak up any vibration you might have.

1 awkward fall on the silicone grops and they tear.

If you have money, get a set of Rev grips.

I swear by my ESI Extra Chunky on my Camber, but are expensive and not particularly tough.

When I am next in the market, I would like to try the thick Death Grips. Even if it's just for the name

I'm going to go against the grain here - I don't like the ESI's.

I've tried most brands of silicon grips and have settled on the LuvHandles 32mm "more luv".  I've had them on the bike for over a year now and they still look new.  They don't go squishy like so many of the others, there's good vibration damping, I don't slide on them, they don't twist on the bars, they don't tear when I crash, but they are a bit difficult to get on though (even with an air compressor) but that just means that they're solid once they're on.

Can't recommend them highly enough.

I have tried all the grips silicone & ergo etc and for big hands these are awesome , -

So awesome that I had to sell them, as ESI extra chunky's size is the right size for me and my hands. The Fat Paw are 1 size bigger than the ESI extra chunky and absorb trail vibrations which make your hands and body less fatigued over a long ride.

Currently I use the Fabric silicone grips which are great.

Extra chunky for the win!

Or just spray some rubbing alcohol on the bars... They slip right on.

LBS told me to use hair spray when I bought a set of Red monkeys for my daughters bike.

The first grip I sprayed the hair spray on the bar, I struggled.

Second one I spray into the grip and it slipped straight on.

(finding hairspray was the hardest part, my wife had a very old can tucked away in the back of a cupboard that we never use)

The grips themselves feel comfy to my hands. My daughter has yet to ride with them.

Everything dirtypot said!

Hell of a lot cheaper than ESI and you get to choose what colour bar end plugs you want.

Put a pair on almost 6 months ago now after reading rave reviews here on thehub and they look like I put them on yesterday despite many hours and more crashes than I care to confess  .

If they ever do wear out I will get another pair of exactly the same grips.

I have a set of the thick ones that have been going strong for over 2 years and don't look a day older than they did a month into fitting them. That's multible rough expedition races, falls, transport and thousands and thousands of gloveless km.

I got the flanged versions, but the unflanged ones look better for 'racing'.... (flange... what a word)

Another vote for the "Moreluv" grips. Between a couple of us we probably have around 8 sets that's been around for longer than 2 years and they're still going strong - including long rides and Transbaviaans (amongst others).

Been very happy with Oury and ODI lock on, but not as comfortable when doing 5+ hour rides as ESI Extra Chunky.

I've considered giving Supacaz a test.

I like ESI but boy they are are damaged easily. ANY impact to the grips will likely result in a gouge or tear. For this reason I've given up on them.

You sound like you crash often.

Maybe a skills clinic will do the trick and save you some bucks on grips.
