Perfectly safe. Past incidents were mainly as a result of a few undesirables coming up from Imizamo Yethu near Hout bay, over the mountain and making a quick getaway back into the rabbit warren of IY. Was stopped thanks to increased security measures and active patrolling, as well as co-ordinated searches between Mountain Men security & SAPS & Tokai MTB. There weren't many incidents at all, but even one is too much.

Yep that's exactly what it is promoting :)

Place is super safe, it's ONLY occasionally when doing the mast climb that people used to have some issues.

Isn't that article promoting just how safe Tokai has become?

I'm a little confused

Agreed.

Any comment about Tygerberm trails? :whistling:

I was just confused by the thread... It's a little like reading an article saying how healthy Broccoli is for you, the asking the forum 'After reading this, it made me wonder, is Broccoli healthy for me?'

Maybe that's just me though!

Many ride Tokai on their own.

Is it safe? Define safe.

Could you have an incident? Yes.

What is the likelihood?

It is only when you have experienced an issue that you realise that it can actually happen.

To the OP - I think you're probably more at risk travelling such a long way every wekend to ride at Tokai. The roads between here and Centurion are dangerous. That said we're very happy you rate the trails at Tokai so highly you make such a huge effort...

I think I can only recall one incident on a weekday morning of someone placing a wire across the path on Bloemendaaler.

Other than than a few kids vandalizing signs at the Fair Cape loop and a few spykers on the ground.

Never heard of any other incident on the trails themselves before.
