In today’s day and age if your phone can take WhatsApp you can take pics and post on bikehub.

If you want to sell your items honestly you will take pics and either illustrate condition with pics or in the description of your ad.

In this week @pieterkaggel had a wanted ad. I contacted him because I had exactly what he wanted.

He asked me if it was in perfect condition. So I took multiple photo’s and sent it to him on WhatsApp. I told him what I wanted for the item and refused payment until he was satisfied.

Deceiving people for a quick buck or to offload damaged equipment will only catch up to you.

Either someone will deceive you or Karma will get the better of you.

This week alone I had 2 sales go through, both were not from ads that I placed rather from wanted ads.

I made sure that I rated the experience I had with the Hubbers. Forewarned is for armed IMHO.

Hubbers need to use the rating system and report ads.

But at the same time I feel that their is a biased in support of claims Against sellers by admin.

I have always known the hub rule to be that ratings can only be given for deals that are concluded.

Does this rule now go out the window?

I think you missed the part where I mentioned it was from responding to wanted ads perhaps?

Edit: Tried to highlight from phone didn’t work ????????‍♂️

Yes i get that but in general with regard to this thread and the rating system. Yes we need a warning so we are informed.

Other misconduct just goes unseen as sale was not concluded and rating never given

Unfortunately not - I have a 1 star rating because I didn't reply to a PM in the 20 hour time period someone thought was reasonable (he even went on HelloPeter to post about how terrible my service was after that).

In this case we have to assume he actually had a bike for sale and was just too lazy to post the pics so probably no justification for warning everyone - if it is proven he didn't have a bike or it wasn't as described then it's a much more serious offence and he should be removed from Bikehub altogether.

Maybe take the rating up with Matt 20 hours is not to long for most of us that have day jobs.

I have a mailbox full of messages from people that ask is this available or ask for bank details and never follow through. lowballers i just ignore

Should the seller/buyer not be able to reply to the rating left for them. The old three sides to a story concept.

We often use "lekkaSlaap".

Their reply\rating system certainly allows the host to reply to the guests input.

You very quickly spot the odd bad referal, and note the hosts feedback.  But reading a number of guests feedback you very quickly note a pattern ....

Frankly nobody is 100% good, nor 100% bad, all the time.  Sometimes a "minor mark" on a bike part would be a big thing for the buyer, other times they look past that and are happy for getting their hands on a very rare part ..... detailed feedback, and the pattern in such feedback allows potential clients to make an informed decision.

Even if somebody has only one reply, and a bad one at that .... if they have something I want, I can enter such transaction with due notice, insist on viewing the item and concluding a cash transaction if the price warranted such steps.  Then the next feedback could start giving some balance to the sellers "portfolio".

I don't fully agree with your last statement around balance.

If the seller is remorseful and is willing to come to a positive outcome that is not at the buyers expense then i agree that the next rating would be the litmus test.

BUT

If the seller was willing to sell one item that was in questionable condition and denied that the condition is not "perfect" as advertised. After many too and throws and the buyer trying to come out with an amicable solution, even after photo's and other's agreeing in support of the buyer.

And the seller is not willing to even apologize, take accountability or even accept the items back and offer a refund.

This seller is not only delusional but also will do it repeatedly if not stopped and should be removed from a platform like this.

I'm happy to engage with opposing thoughts to mine.

What has happened to the accused need to sell his bike?

- Does he now have a new username?

- Did he ask a mate to post on his behalf?

- Did he see that hubbers are on his tail so retreated?

So many unknowns..

So you're saying i used glue, black and white markers to conceal damage on the helmet i bought from you and did not use?

And i scratched the sunglasses i bought from you for R650? why would i do something like that?

Are you delusional? Do you think the world is out to get you? Do you often look behind you while walking?

Grow a pair and take some accountability..

In the letter you added in the box you said you tried to fix it. dont be a chop man up..

I've got nothing to hide.. The proof of payment i send you was from the Standard bank app. it gives you the option to send it as an image which i did.

I then sent you the proof of payment from the Standard bank online portal which also has the timestamp of the transaction. I Paid within 5min or so of speaking with you over the phone.

This could all be resolved if you answered the phone when i phone you or reply to the messages i sent via sms or whatsapp. Instead you want to email Bikehub and tell them i tried to defraud you. but you still had the items in your posession? what were you trying?

Why lie to me and tell me you opened a case of fraud against me with SAPS? you had my cash and the items. you made me run around looking for answers and didn't answer your phone or reply to messages when i asked what fraud did i commit when i paid you?

You had me running around trying to sort it out while you kept silent.

Get your facts in order. I buy and sell stuff on bikehub often.

I gave you 5 days to respond to me before opening this thread because i believe in the good in people.

You're trying my patience now, stop trying to convince bikehub Admin i am a scammer.

have some decency

Standard bank to standard bank transfers over weekends has seen some issues of late but they won't admit it. Sorry you got done in I hope this gets settled.

Out of curiosity, what review did you leave?

I also contacted the seller for the bike and then looked at the reviews like I normally do - found this thread and decided to steer clear. But if it wasnt for this thread, I'd have been deep in it by today!

My review said that he does not use real pictures in his ads. Stay clear.

Hi all,

Quagga's review was removed since the OP of this thread had already left a 1 star review from the original issue. The contents of his review also referenced the removal of the images which was done by us, prior to the outright removal of the advert.

For the purposes of alerting potential buyers to this thread, we felt the review from Throttles is sufficient. As also noted in my response yesterday in this thread, there is an unfortunate bug which prevented the rating from being displayed on the advert itself. We're attending to this urgently. The rating system should have connected the dots here and in future will do so more effectively.

I don’t agree that you remove a rating on an ad. That was clearly misleading

Yes remove the misleading ad. Leave the rating that the person post misleading pics.

I worded it such that if the ad was removed the rating. Will mean something.

ATM it seems that only one person had an issue with him. Only one time about one add. People don’t know that he posts deceiving images.

They have to search to find out more about him.
