Alternatives to Zwift for IDT?

I have been with Zwift for almost 3 years - with Wahoo Kickr snap. Battled for many moons before I finally got it right without excessive power drops. ANT+ would simply not do it, but with Bluetooth on the cell phone in parallel (using the Companion app) I can use the laptop screen and keyboard for better display. Last few months were almost flawless, but last few days it is all over again: power drops …

I have other issues with Zwift too, such as: when I climb a hill my heart rate goes up, breath starts pumping, legs feel the extra effort, by the power readings go down – at any cadence or positioning on the bike. And the other way around on down hills. Huh?

Zwift does not respond to the help line support@gozwift.zendesk.com  any more. The price had gone up by 50% from 10$ to 15$ per month. The more gadgets the more computer geeks join them. They are on a roll. Good for them as a business.

I am not into computer games. I am into cycling. Gadgets do not impress me. Simplicity and reliability does. For example: I mostly only ride Watopia Figure 8. As long as there are flats and hills that require different gearing/cadence/effort I will not get bored. But I do need a visible route, not a blind “work out” that specifies xxx watt for yyy minutes, repeat … etc

Please advise alternative software to replace Zwift on a Wahoo Kickr Snap

in all honesty, nothing else compares to Zwift if you want the virtual part of things.

Are you sure there's not a problem with your trainer ?

I've never used Zwift in the past but I can suggest what I've been using since 2013  :D

Download the Sufferfest app and give them a try. Its a completely different approach than what Zwift offers, no virtual riding in groups. They offer structured workouts with real race footage.

I would however suggest that you download the 7 day free trial and see if it gives the same hassles before subscribing. They charge $12 pm

Virtugo - number of routes to ride and a lot of structured workouts

RGT - number of routes to free ride on

Used both and work well, just check min spec requirements for your pc for the graphics.

I use both Win10 with Ant+

There's an app called RGT. Road Grand Tour. I can't vouch for it as I've not used it but it's free (at the moment)

I can vouch for RGT. I havent used it for a number of moths now but it does what it says on the tin. Nowhere near as visually impressive as Zwift but you get what you pay for. If you just want something that can give you visual feedback while you suffer then it ticks that box.

There is a Chinese Zwift alternative called One Lap that is currently free too. They've done a lot of work on it recently and it's starting to look really good. Maybe look into that too?

Check out Fulgas - it is real videos of climbs, group rides with Movistar and and.

Personally I think it’s awaome and very real when climbing and gradient changes etc.

Fulgas trumps Zwift for real life virtual

I second the view that your trainer or ant+ connection/key is the problem. If it works on Bluetooth, which is the least reliable protocol, then there's nothing wrong with the app.

Try another ant dongle first...then another trainer.

Start by getting your ant+ dongle closer to your trainer, ie buy a usb extension cable and lay it next to the trainer (ant+ is VERY susceptible to interference from other wireless protocols) Also do a spindown on your IDT through the Wahoo app (don’t use the function on zwift as this causes a whole different set of problems)
