I like the look of this! But article quoted pricing does not quite equate with what is provided on the Box website. Kiff nonetheless - makes sense to me in terms of the gearing I typically use

Perfect for the type of riders that spend an hour in low gearing climbing at a steady pace, then heading down. Not so good for XC riders (too big jumps between gears) - but that's not the market it is aimed at.

Definitely something I will consider when the time comes to replace my current drivetrain on the big bike. Now just make an XD compatible cassette...

Yeah, if you're either only going straight up or straight down, it'll be great. If you ride a lot of gradual rolling gradients, you're going to have some cadence issues.

Is it me or having the phrase 'budget friendly 9 speed drive train' and then selling a cassette for $359.99 a little weird?

That's R5,300+ for the cassette and over R9,000 for a shifter, cassette and Rear mech. For that money you can get a 1x11 XT groupset with shifter, cassette, mech crank and chain and see money, a Box 1 wide range 11sp and save a lot more and even on le hub there is a guy that has 11sp 1x with brakes for less.

I'm not seeing the budget-friendly bit.

yeah, the CNC'd Chromo cassette does change things up a bit in the pricing side of things. But the good news is that it should last faaaaar longer than a normal cassette.

That is tasty for sure and I'd love one but you honestly can't sell it in as a budget anything at that price. A X01 Eagle Cassette is only R1K more locally and that's never even heard the word 'budget'.
