I see Valverde has sneaked into the top 10... what colour is the leading Vet's jersey?

I really hope he can stay in the top ten, awesome performance for 40 year old !!!

Just need to finish close to the leaders and keep a eye on Martin & Caruso.

Yeah I doubt we will see the same separation we did on the climb yesterday, but there might still be time gaps over the top as Pogacar will surely keep fighting and Lopez can smell 2nd.

A couple of riders could then come back together on the descent and work together to the line to bank some time differences.

Gut feeling says the breakaway will take it today, so the time bonuses will most likely not come into play.

Lopez is going to have to make a go of it today. UAE and Jumbo will have to mark him over the last two climbs.

He'll get blown away in the TT so he needs about 2min to have a shot at 2nd and keep it. Thats means beating Teddy by over 3min today.

You are right. JV cannot allow him any leeway after what he did to them yesterday.

Gonna be fun to watch it all unfold on the mountains.

Morning, you crazy fans!

What a fine introduction of a new climb to the Tour de France race book!

Superb ride by Lopez. Chapeau! His flowing tears was remarkable to witness. He mentioned his family, his Mama and all those that've been supporting him on this very narrow, rocky and steep road that is WorldTour cycling. He needs all the time advantage to stay in the top 3 as the race of truth on Saturday will be a major challenge for him. The maillot jaune and the teenage looking Pogaçar are superb against the clock, as well as Porte and Uran Uran.

The maillot vert is for Bennett to lose.

Superb fight by Bahrain' yesterday. It didn't work out. Hopefully Landa can try again today.

Today will likely be a stage for the breakaway as the GC favourites stay out of the red until what'll be a crucial TT in a few days.

The Bearded One below has not been afforded any grace by the peloton. He also had to play sherpa to the diminutive Ewan as he is a favourite for a win on the cobblestones of the Champs Elysees.

His TT has improved... He was 2nd at Nationals last year and this ITT is pretty hilly.

I don't know if it's a 2 minutes to lose kind of ride for him on Saturday.

But we will see. He has certainly showed that he has legs in week 3 of a GT and you feel that when the tour gets a route with more altitude, he will definitely be good for a crack.

At 26 he is still young and his palmares show he likes to win.... I'm pretty excited for today. If Bennett makes the time cut it could be the glorious dethroning of Sagan... races within races within races

Small correction Dale:

Tomorrow is a flat 166.5km stage for the sprinters. The ITT is on Saturday. Might give the GC guys the rest day they need to go a little deeper today.

Dankie, Vetplant.

My time and day orientation in 2020 is quite shocking.

There's an interesting little gravel section at the top of the HC climb just after the bonus sprint point of about 1500m. The first 500m looks mostly flat with the last 1000m being about a 5.5% uphill gradient. Could be a spot where some riders either gain or lose a chunk of time.

my take - today's stage will entice those that get shelled on the last climb to race back on on the descent. I certainly won't be as thrilling as yesterday.

my hope is that it tee's up a de gendt breakaway for tomorrow. trouble is that if he goes off the front, ewan goes out the back - only one of those things is good for Lotto

on a tech/effort note, how horrible would yesterday have been on a 39x23 in days of old?

Yeah, actually there should be a prize for guys over 38, thats an achievement despite his doggy passport cycling that is... LOL

Personally I think there will be more action... has to be, last day for real fireworks before the TT.

The whole Lotto team are like the last four riders in the Tour.. whats with that?

yes so true man, a 39 would bring you to like 8/9km/h easily...
