The police station where a Cape Town mother and father, and several "ocean protesters", were arrested and charged this week has been closed due to a staff member testing positive for Covid-19.

Cue every surf rushing the beach tomorrow am.

Wonder if the protesters infected the cops.

Typically 4 to 8 days before you can test positive, since contracting covid

Typically 7 to 10 days before becoming symptomatic to the point where a Dr will recommend a test ...

Also a few days for the tests ....

Cops most likely had it before encountering the surfers ....

So what is the furthest you guys have ridden outside in the 3 hour window, within your 5km radius?

My road bike is still on the trainer. Until now I only took the MTB up Paarl Mountain every morning to play a bit, but thinking of trying to do a 100km ride on the road bike sometime next week. Probably 10x 10km laps in town or something like that within the 5km radius.

Only 45km for me so far. Took just over 2 hours. I am fortunate that I have mtb trails right from my backdoor, but that does mean the ave speed is a bit lower. I also only ride 2 hours so I can take the doggos out for a walk.

I have wanted to see how far I can get on the roadie, but each time I go to the garage to get the lights on the bike for the next morning they end up on the mtb...

There is no way I'd make 100km though. In 3 hours I'd maybe make somewhere between 75km and 85km at most on the roadie.

Sounding like a sub3-level4-lockdown challenge. :D

Not possible in our area ...

6 to 7 one can do a nice lap ....

Then the morning traffic picks up and it becomes near impossible to maintain good flow ....

This Saturday there were so many walkers and runners outside that I had to stop a few times ...

Clearly this all depends on the roads in your zone.

NOTE ... this may not be a fast long distance ride, but there is just such a nice vibe out there :)

Haven’t bothered to be honest. The limited trails in the southern burbs are so jammed up and I didn’t really like riding with a mask, and wasn’t going to ride without one, so I am just taking the time to walk dogs, get the kids out on their bikes until the mountain opens up.

How have your efforts to get them to not ride 5 abreast through red lights gone so far?

I'd guess this would yield a similar result.

The stun gun is working wonders

I managed 78.46km today doing circuits on the top of the M19 (Westville North). This included 1229m climbed. Took part in our club challenge within level 4 restrictions. Two managed 100km...(with less climbing)
