Hi All, My caliper is not nicely centered on the disc (slx caliper, 180mm disc, reba 29" fork). I need a "narrower" adapter but google has not been forthcoming with any options. Should I use washers instead of the adapter? Grind the existing adapter? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

That's looks fine.

Take a picture from the top side where it can be seen where the pads meet the rotor

Will do... what am I looking out for?

Should there not be wear on the full outer face of the rotor (currently only 75%)?

I normally loosen the caliper bolts, lift the wheel and pull the brake lever and while holding the lever tight the bolts again.

Thanks, but the concern here is that the pads are not closing on the full outer face of the rotor. Notice the wear marks on the rotor.

it may just be the coloring, i'm not an expert but the assumption would be the heat would move to outside of the rotor... or i'm just talking cr@p , most likely.

a close up like something like so

take a look at the adapter, it would have a size printed on it ... ensure that this matches size printed on the rotor.

it may also be worthwhile making sure that the adapter is orrientated correctly as there is an arrow showing either direction or "up" on it.

It looks to me like you are using the incorrect rotor size for the adaptor - check the size of the rotor against what is printed on the adaptor

Make sure the edge of the rotor does not bottom out in the caliper if you modify the bracket to move it down on the disc surface Edited by You Biscuit

I have a feeling that the adapter is in upside down, maybe not, but that could be what is wrong

Also what I see. It seems to be upside down.

But also check printing as other guys suggest.

Would recommend to take brake pad out and look at wear rather than guessing from the outside of you think the pad does not cover the disc brake area properly.

nah the adapter is on the correct way, the other thing could be is that the fork is 180mm rotor compatible which would mean 180mm rotors would run without the adapter.

still think we need to see the top view of the caliper how pads sit on rotor
