Why is the Classifieds Ad pic uploading interface still so poo??

So Bikehub has had all the "upgrades" and "PLUS" yes indeed but the pic uploading and management interface when posting an ad is still as rubbish as can be, Hello 2005 wants their tired old tech back!!

So first I uploaded pics via the "Click Here" feature, ok cool select all the pics I want, no wait you can't reorder them, wtf!!

Start again and this time I use the "Drag and Drop Files", carefully select the images I want and drag them in order, there also seems to be a way to drag each new pic to where you want it in the order, not bad. Not as convenient as just selecting all of them but hey it works, cool.

So I post my ad... give it a quick check over.... Dammt all the images I carefully ordered are now in random order, probably based off of file name or something, no man what is this...

Come on Matt and Nick, you can do better!!

And while I'm calling up Admin, thanks for the platform and forum, much appreciated and please don't ban me for calling your ad pic interface poo and outdated :D

Please fix it!

What you trying to upload pics of? If it's a 26" or has a saddle bag or used bibs etc then you will mos have issues.

I'm sorry to hear you struggled to upload pics of your used bibs, ag that must have been horribly frustrating!!

Just to confirm, my experience is the same as anyone elses when uploading pics to an ad, there is no way to order the pics, the only thing you can do is select the main pic that will display with the ad?

Apparently if there is a skid mark on the bibs, it scares buyers away. Bunch of snowflakes.

Blokes is this ever going to get "fixed", it's 2020 and the interface still doesn't allow pics to be reordered. Sad very sad.

Hi Skylark,

Agreed it is something that needs to be addressed. We did complete overhaul of the image uploader earlier in the year to address what were at the time some more critical issues, e.g. auto resizing large files for easy upload.

Re-ordering is on the to-do list for a future round of uploader improvements, but that list also contains 101 other items across all sections of the site, some more urgent than others.

At a basic level though, the system should at least be ordering based on the upload sequence. We'll look into this asap - it should be a quick fix which will then at least provide some control over the order until we can update to allow dynamic re-ordering.

Will update here soonest.

Regards,

Matt

If the uploader could control the order via upload sequence that would be a fair compromise.

Deal

I'm not shying away from full re-order capabilities... that will come. 100% agree that in 2020 it should be standard, but we're having to bite off these sort of features in small chunks.

Awesome how long are we looking at to get this implemented?

Edit by that I mean this : "the uploader being able to control the order via upload sequence"

This change has been implemented.

The images will now be ordered as follows:

  • 1st image = image you've marked as Featured
  • Remaining images = ordered based on upload time*, oldest shown first

*NB: this is based on when the image finishes uploading to our server, not when you drop it in the uploader. So depending on file size & speed of drag n drop you could get the odd smaller image skipping ahead if the upload is faster.
