Can't wait to go for a spin on them. Amp HD mullet set with the new Hi-Per Hubs. Very stealthy hub at the back. Very quiet as opposed to the obnoxious humming of the Rapidé rear hub. Both are awesome, but right now I'm thinking the Lyne is 😎. PhilipV

ChrisF Posted August 1 Share 9 hours ago, PhilipV said: Topping up oil in the compressor is hardly a schlepp. Oil is cheap and readily available. Or outsource it if it’s not your cup of tea. I won’t take an oil-less compressor over a bigger, faster machine that uses oil. When you have a proper compressor in the garage, you use it for a lot more than just bicycles. Rapide? Soap and water was crucial to how we fit nonTL tyres to random rims back in the Stone Age. modern rims and tyres have made it so much easier. Having had an oil compressor I am underwelmed by the oilless unit .... and NO, it sure as heck is not "silent" !! If anything, practically the same noise levels, just much longer .... MajG Posted August 1 Share Drop at Stoke shouldn't of let me hear the difference between silent and older conventional compressor. Geez... Silent is the only way to go!! The silent is barely noticeable in comparison.

Would love to know if truly silent units are available in the more DIY sizes..... and cost

The caveat with this is they are abnormally expensive and even the biggest ones I've seen are very small 20L< Flow rate might also be an issue vut should be easily solved with some fittings. Cost tho .....yikes

Not silent, but orders of magnitude quieter than the two reciprocating ones I've owned before. I can take calls while it's charging, which is good enough for me. The price difference between an oil less and a silent unit is NOT that much !!! Wish I knew this 2 years ago .... Robbie Stewart

The CO2 work for me, I do not own a bike shop, so no need for a expensive air compressor for the 1 or two times a year that I have to seat my tyres.
