Whoever organised this should be shot. The traffic is a complete and utter disaster.

Was this your first 947?  If not you should know you need to get their early. If yes, know you know. Either way, the organisers should NOT be shot.

For me, coming from the north on the N1 south, then Rand Show road, the traffic was much less than the traffic at Riversands.

Was a piece of cake from Alberton , 5 minutes in and out . We did get there just after 5am.

I chose the Orange parking and I'll do it again. Got there just after 5AM, coming from the North on the N1 and flow was fine, better than at Riversands(like someone else noted). There is just so much more space at Soccer City, everything inside flowed fine during the loading proceedings and from what I could see there were plenty of toilets at the right places.

Route itself was fine. Jan Smuts was a worthy challenge in the last 3rd of the route. And what about that wind in the final 3km!? HECTIC.

My own race: could not have expected anything eye popping with very little prep. Full susser without a lockout is also worlds apart from my previous road bike.

Credit to the organisers. Very well done for a first attempt at hosting it.

I'll be back, hopefully with more miles in the legs.

What a great race. The weather held and the gees was beautiful!

Was a great ride. Well organised. Except for the traffic entry from the north side

Where did you get off the N1 and roughly what time? I had zero issues.

We were trying to get from inside the ring to NASREC. Metro police gave us directions. We followed the directions and passed through a number of Metro police control points (we were a number of vehicles following each other) following the directions of the Metro police. Then, as we were nearly at NASREC (about half a kilometer), some cowboy in a 'Search & Rescue' marked bakkie came racing straight at us with all his headlights flashing, green lights flashing etc. Okay, so we turn around and head back to the Metro police point about 100m behind us that we had just been waved through. Cowboy goes racing past us to the point. As we go past he winds down his window and shouts '**** you' at us. Now we haven't done anything. I haven't flashed lights at him, made any signs or hooted. All we did was comply and turn around. This just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. So we ask the Metro police for other alternative routes. We get instructions. We follow the instructions. Only to find after another 7km or so that a different group of Metro police have now blocked that route too. By this time I am ready to go back home. My partner decides it's time to ignore the police. We eventually figure out our own alternative route and arrive an hour and a bit late. Etc. It was all very disorganized from our perspective.

But that aside, I must say that it was well organised.

I disagree - the event imho was superbly well organised. The parking management was excellent.

If anyone should be shot, it's the chops who didn't listen to the marshalls!!
