I bought the ROCKBROS bikepacking bag after hearing advice from a friend. I am pleased with the design and construction of the bag. I haven't used other seat bags, but the construction seems to be on par with the (much) more expensive bags out there. The material is nice, waterproof nylon. No zippers on this, which is great. It is quite stable on the big when packed properly. Even under a heavy downpour, I can rely on this bag. It features a roll-type closure to keep my stuff dry at all times.

Agree. I have been very happy with the brand. Good value for money.

Prince Alfred Pass.... from the North down towards the coast...freewheeling heaven...with a few climbs, sure but the longest you will ever freewheel! I did 50k's before turning into Kom Se Pad to traverse...spectacular!!

on other fronts, Atlas Mountain race starts in a few hours time, a few South Africans on the start line, first 17km is 1100m of elevation gain, needless to say it will be a big warm up. looks a bit wet and cold at the start

And Race Around Rwanda currently on the go with some South Africans riding. Drikus from Namibia was leading until he had a couple of lie-downs.

Actually there's a hubber riding as well, who's just finished...990km in 136hrs elapsed time, think about 19000m elevation!

Kom se Pad:

Kom Se Pad (Come to the path) is a gravel loggers road running from Diepwalle to Gouna in the Western Cape of South Africa, traversing the forest reserve above the popular coastal town of Kynsna...a gem along the Garden Route... No longer used for logging, it's a publicly accessible road (permits are required from SANPARKS) with perfect gravel, minimal climbing and dense forests filled with life, most of which you only hear! Along some sections, it forms an overhead canopy of ferns, tall indigenous trees and dense foliage running for about 20kms...the true Garden Route!

Good luck -- that looks like a heavy load to carry down Die Leer!
Are you going to do one trip for the bike and another for the panniers?
I see Sean Fraenkel has just posted a video on his descent of it on Facebook Gamkaskloof page.

Subscribe, esp. since I learn a lot about the ELECTRONIC side of your (impressive) setup, and I like the way you show intended route, and detailed bike rig setup.

Traveling vicariously with you, and ALSO keen to see how you traverse ‘Die Leer’; I have seen other (global) Bike Packers who also need to traverse with their bags separate from their bike down/up a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, by making up a simple double-ended strap to carry 2 panniers across the shoulders, allowing hands-free scrambling/climbing/ whatever!

Am not religious, but God-speed, and fair-weather/tail winds all the way!

been in touch with these guys whom did it with similar rig and they didn't rig down and shuttle...

Thule panniers come with shoulder straps and they onboard just in case!
