Frosty Posted May 29, 2023 Share I heard that taking VAM and dividing by 300, gets an approximate W/Kg. TheoG

The bike change showed 2 seconds difference, and it was about 3-4 seconds before the road ramped up. Take the difference at the end, and you'll get about 35-40 seconds loss. With the mechanical and time loss to GT , made the incorrect assumption Roglic was the fastest, but this opens up why did GT loose so much time. Cause he does not climb the super steep gradients like Roglic does and is known for. Frosty and TheoG

Ultimately I don't think it mattered ... the steep slopes sorted things out. Frosty, TheoG, Vetplant and 2 others

He said his legs felt terrible at about 1.5km to go (so he lost a lot of his time in the last 3rd of the climb). He also didn't have to be the fastest, just 25 seconds (or less) slower than Roglic. GT finished 40 seconds slower (2nd overall on the stage).

Thanks John, I wasn't sure about that but was hoping like mad. That picture of Roglic sitting on the ground at the TdF after TP did the exact same to him is etched in my mind for ever ... As a Roglic fan I'm very happy he got this one. Also very happy for Cav to get a win on the last stage of his last Giro.

I don’t think Roglic is really known for climbing steep gradients. He used a very light gear as well which clearly assisted him. But yeah, when I look at Roglic, he’s not a natural climber like a Pog or Jonas just based on the eye test. A natural climber dances on the pedals and mixes his style with standing and seated. Roglic definitely has more a Froome vibe spinning a really high cadence. I
