Pee at the start gate of your race. Ideally on your opponent's bikes. That'll buy you some time while also asserting dominance.

Hahahaha! That's *** funny!!!

My body wont allow me to pee on the bike. Have tried, everything just goes "Nope, no ways, we're keeping that seal tightly closed"

Is your bladder completely full?
Are you completely unweighting from the saddle?

I'm guessing that you are so worried about the whole carb fluid per hour thing that you are drinking too much.

For us midpack okes it's overrated. Cut some of the fluid before the race . Pee just before the start. One bottle with your dope in , one with water. See how it goes. If you struggle or it's very hot grab a sachet or stop at a WP. Keep a bar and a gel close.

Practise on your training rides and see what works for you.

I'm a 47 year old male, my bladder does not need to be completely full to really need to pee :)

But, even when I climb off, its take a moment before things flow again.

Are you (OP) drinking water only before the race? If yes, try a hypertonic drink rather (Powerade, Red Bull, Vitamin, etc. Water dilutes the sodium concentration in your body, throwing it out of balance.

hypertonic beverages are actually fantastic sort of pre and post exercise because they are retained better in the body than just like drinking plain water. So hypertonic beverages, we mean things that have a high concentration of carbohydrate or electrolytes like sodium. And because of those high concentrations of solutes, they actually stay in the stomach a little bit longer. And it’s more like a drip drip drip from the stomach into the small intestine. And it means it’s a more gradual absorption of fluid into the bloodstream. ~ Dr Patrick Wilson, author of The Athlete’s Gut.

Just go full triathlete and pee all over yourself and your bike 💦

Sunday's CTCT conditions were perfect for that.

Both relieved the need and coukf warm you at the same time. 🙊

If skill permits, go Euro-pro and drop to the back of the pack and whip it out mid pedal stroke ... 🤷‍♂️

just find that buddy willing to push you along while you do it. For some reason, it feels like an absolute lifetime trying to empty the bladder while the group sneaks away

First time I din't know how it would go so didn't want any witnesses. I had a teammate in the bunch but did the deed solo...

My (long) 2c:

I think I used to drink too much immediately before a ride (race or training) and drinks that were too sugary during the ride. But I've trained myself to drink less as I got older (and fitter) – it takes time to wean (not wee) yourself to get your body to get used to needing to drink less.

I also found that what I drink makes a big difference: keep myself hydrated and quench my thirst (very closely related).

For me, Nuun Hydration tablets work (I've tried all the usual suspects over the years) – usually just the plain electrolyte one, but I've found I quite enjoy the one with caffeine. I usually go one bottle of Nuun, one of plain old water.

Sip regularly, eat every hour (Racefood farbar or fastbar – whatever I grab out of my pocket).

Oh, and coffee as soon as I wake up (just one cup). And go to the toilet when waking up and before leaving!

Most importantly: I don't pee during rides. 😂

There used to be a guy who raced Junior with us about 15 years ago, here in SA.

He would roll to the back of the bunch, sit on one side of the seat and just let it go. No warning, no nothing.

If you saw him falling back, you made sure you weren't in his slip. Otherwise there's a golden shower coming for you😂

On a 3+ hour ride I aim to finish my fluid about 15 mins before the end of the ride. I typically never need to pee during a decent ride, 3+ hours. Drinking too much water can be fatal, because you can dilute your sodium levels too much. 3l per day sounds high to me. I don't count, just drink to thirst, if my pee's paleish I'm good. Are you getting enough salt if you drink so much water? Your kidneys manage your water needs. If you're peeing a lot while exercising intensely you've got too much. I'd rather be 2% dehydrated at the end of a race than 2% over hydrated. In December I did a 210k ride and stopped at 125 to top up nutrition and fluid. It was hot, I drank about 7 bottles in about 8 hours, took one pee after 180k.

What province were you racing in? I raced Junior in WP 07/08

I raced up in Jozi. You were a couple years ahead and could have been u23 when I joined juniors
