Does anyone just turn the tumble dryer on in the afternoon when you have excess solar, just for fun?

Its like a nice white noise maker.

The honeymoon phase. It took me about a month before I stopped obsessively looking at the app and showing my partner that we just boiled water in the kettle for "free".

A month? 2 years and 2 months later and I still look at the app. 😊🤣

Next week I get an additional battery and then I should have enough in reserve to see me through almost every scenario.

so I have been thinking about this a lot...

I also ended up down a rabbit hole of bitcoin mining. If one of the more expensive parts(other than the rig) is power- with most setups we have a few extra kw to run a mining rig for 6-8hours a day. The business case isn't quite clear though but at this stage it looks like it could potentially be more viable financial supplement than selling back to the grid.

Can't get enough of the the monitoring and to add to it I just dived into getting Home Assistant up and running as well 🙈

Got 2 smart switches to start toying with next step is trying to get the sunsynk data into Home Assistant while you don't understand half of what you are doing and what the guides are talking about 😅

I’m with you on the adding the Sunsynk to the HA app. For now I have lights, TVs and a network printer connected.

@TheoG and I added our geysers to our list of smart devices, and I’m sure there will be more to follow each money.

I like to refer to it as boys and their toys.

I’ve used this (left) in the past for the pool, but after the 3rd one stopped working, I’m changing to the one on the right. My lights are on the switch (left).17487520-4A0E-4576-AF2F-74788418E316.png.87aa9a8f62e4f6f3b94b94b5e04fe1e9.png

I went for the Sonoff wifi units.

There "weather proof" plugs are NOT what I thought it would be ....  REMOVE the plug and the lid closes to make it weather proof.

Ended up building it all into a larger properly sealed box.

The pump still works of its normal timer.  I now have the ability to remotely switch it off on those unexpected rainy days.

Partly to not use eskom .... more imprtantly, to not pump the water through the pipes on the roof and cooling down the pool during these days.

I’ve got a sonoff th16 on the pool pump.
It’s wired in between the timer and pump, but I have the timer permanently on and the sonoff controlling the scheduling. I’ve actually never set the timer as I installed the sonoff when the timer was installed.
