In Wessel's case: He got a ticket to go and I believe the 2 gents before him too. Although that is it (a nod to say you can go). All else will fall on the athlete/sponsors.

As someone else put it. Spend all that money to start last in the start chute...

Apologies, this was for World Champs, not Commonwealth Games...

Dan Bigham had a crash as well.

 G Basson finished in 18th.

The damage those wattshop extensions did to the fence is quite impressive. Nice ad for the product.

Glad to see non WT riders in the mix with the win coming from a non WT rider.

Big thumbs up to Morne', he rode a fantastic race to ensure that Impey was in with a medal chance.

On the other end of the scale, Cav was not a happy man....

Watching Morne is what makes cycling so special but all credit to Daryl and let’s not forget Ashleigh kudos to you all you make us all very proud

To bury yourself for your countryman and let go of a result on such a big stage is a proper sign of integrity. Hopefully he got some well deserved attention. Great race craft from the two South African's.

Van Niekerk really used Impey's final big break attempt to his advantage. Sat in until the others eventually responded with a massive chase back allowing him the best chance to get in the medals. He countered hard, and it very nearly worked. What class to roll past Impey moments later with both of them on the back foot and stitch everything back up.

Massively entertaining racing.
