Hmm, looks like Bikehub is just full of useful replies today.

If you're on an entry level bike, I'm assuming you don't need a high-end bike for you girlfriend.
Titan Nitric, Liv Tempt (https://solomonscycles.co.za/products/liv-tempt-e2-2022/), you could even get a Bianchi (https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/e-bike/products/bianchi-t-tronik-sport-9-1-deore-10-speed-option-3-coil). Lots of options for an entry level e-bike with a decent motor.

Unfortunately out of your budget, but my experience with my girlfriend being on a Levo SL has been great! The SL version being lighter makes it easier to handle and still has enough power. We ride all surfaces and although the flat/downhill on the road she would lag a bit from time to time, there is always a climb around the corner to even it out. On the mountain my heart would be bursting out of my chest trying to keep up on the climbs if she had more power to play with.

The Levo cost more that my road and mountain bikes combined, but being able to enjoy spending more time together outdoors, while both getting a satisfactory workout, was more than worth the investment.

My 2c.

P.S. Maybe my take is less relevant if you are only riding an e-bike yourself.

What mountain ebike would you buy at R50 000 budget?

I got my wife a Spez. Levo Fatty for R60k. She loves it so much  - started riding more technical stuff. So it all depends on the riding she wants to do? Lot's of Levo's around the R50k bracket.

Get a new one.

Another vote for buying new.

IF ..... if you consider secondhand, get the dealer to check the bike and confirm in writing what warrantee you can get.   Way too many riders fiddle with the speed assist limiter, voiding the warrantee ... 🤦‍♂️

So I saw a used Liv at Cyclelab lab Pretoria and was even suggesting it to my wife. But was 2 weeks ago. Looks nice.
