If they bought Racetec then hopefully they can carry the Racetec DB over to the new system, would hate to lose 20 years of results.

If I'm not mistaken they currently time the 947, so I have a seat post mounted chip/number.

But their results page is utter crap.

CTCTT couldn't make $$$$ out of racetec anymore? Was this info ever publicly available (i think only PPA accounts are on the web) ?

Wonder how much the sale price was.. If they don't take over the chips and chipreading infrastructure what did they buy?

the database?

software?

guaranteed income at CTCT/PPA events?

my email address?

I think they basically bought the results database and some guaranteed income?

Racetec was using outdated technology, CTCT either had to reinvest in new technology or go into partnership with someone else

Didn't realise Finishtime did the 94.7 - agree that this was a bit of shambles, slightly worrying...

was the old yellow chip not finishing time? coz i still see them on racetec races.

Close, it was Winning Time. Unless there was a name change somewhere?

I'll be expecting a refund on mine. Decades of use and now this!

i might be totally wrong, think the winningtime ones were yellow and got absorbed by racetec along the way and were common hardware so worked together.

then if you go running you needed this green thing in your shoelace

smartest guys around, easily the best at the technology side of it.

BUT .... for now at least ....

Finish Time is doing the timing on 2 September, using the old RaceTech timing boards (MTB event) - got this confirmation on Tuesday.

Let's see what happens with the RaceTech boards and chips in a few months time ....

Can just see thousands line up to get new chips at CTCT2024 ...

Or boards... Under the boardwalk... 😜

The plot thickens ... even more names ....

PS ... this applies to a MTB event in September

Let's hope the MTB airbrake-board is replaced with the new club size boards 👍👍👍

Maybe something good can come from this. 😉

PeakTiming did the physical timing in 2022 for 947 and the Macsteel National Classic, as well as a few other races.

The timing boards used belong to Faces (947 owners), but the timing side of it is compatible with tech used by FinishTime; their partners in Aus are ironically called RaceTec.

FinishTime is system that stores the timing. They might have done it in 2021, but I know Peak Timing did the physical timing in 2022, using their equipment, but it would still be uploaded on FinishTime’s database. I’d see them as a sun-contractor to the FinishTime system, much like ChampionChip used to do back in the day.
