My first ride out at Hoogekraal and Contermans on my new playfull delight! Coming from a Scale 29er to Anthem 650b dual was quite different, but such a jol here on our Tygerberg trails

Can you compare the 650b to the 29er or was your 29er a ht? What is your findings?

My bike is broken. I am devastated, I loved my bike. Had to go to town to buy a new one. Spent the day building it up and tomorrow I will try it out. A bit heavier than the Swift Carbon but I hear they are nice to ride.

Not entirely a bad day if at the end of it you have a new Morewood!

This morning at magoebaskloof in the plantations. Some hard climbs (for me) but the downhills were awesome.post-44041-0-57570000-1384018797_thumb.jpg

......and was Magoebas what you expected based on the advice (very subjective) from Hubbers?

Real treat to cycle in those plantations!

Early days still. Was keen to check out the short single track trail as we didn't have much time yesterday with having to get back for the wedding, didn't end up finding it. The guy said turn left outside the magoebaskloof hotel, at the bridge turn left, there's was no bridge so just ended up riding along paths we found that weren't marked private or no entry.

Riding today might be out. Hangovers abound but we're here till tuesday. Hope the.weather

Holds, want to at least see the dam.

The bike took me to Contermans today and had a run in with two big black nasty looking snakes.

The first one was sunning itself across the single track, no where to go , so I started to throw some stones at it to see if it was alive, after throwing about 5/6 stones and one a direct shot, it still hadn't moved. So I took the decision to go past it but as I got closer about a metre away the thing suddenly moved, reared up and slithered of into the bush.

To say I crapped myself and squealed like a girl would be an understatement.

They're Ragley Carnegies. Not made anymore so VERY difficult to find. Check the On One website - they have very similar.

OK, I thought they were On-One Fleegle bars, I'm trying to get, but I think I'll have to import from the US On-One site

I want to share some of my pics from Magoebaskloof, Man you guys were NOT kidding about the climbs, even on the "easy family" rides - I think I grew some chest hairs. On Monday we decided to go ride anyway even though it had been raining since Saturday so it was super wet and muddy - zero traction. My bike and I walked a lot - but incredibly beautiful area indeed.

This downhill looks harmless but I was convinced I was going to die. With the amount of mud on my tyres I had zero traction - both front and back brakes gripped for dear life, and yet gravity won...
