Morning All

Taking a long shot here, but got nothing to lose....

I am the coordinator for a sports foundation in the North of Zambia, and our premier sports team is our cycling team... they are the top team in Zambia, and we have been fortunate to have some guys compete internationally in recent years in both MTB and Road Racing events.

One of our team members, who is also our bike mechanic, has had an opportunity arise to travel to South Africa for 10 days - coinciding with this weekends race. Would anyone have any idea if there is a way to try and secure him an entry?

He will be travelling with a road bike as he is preparing for the Zambian national road championships, and this would a great opportunity for him to race in such an event.

Any assistance would be HUGELY appreciated!

Thanks

Please whatsapp me on 082 654 0371.. i have an entry for him.. i did confirm with he race office last week that if sent the pdf howler ticket, the details can be substituted to yours, IN PERSON AT THE EXPO ONLY.. online substituations are closed..

this would be at no charge considering your post.. 😉👍🏻

On the topic of substitution...  What is the procedure to follow when substituting "in person" at the Expo?  Do both the Original Entry Holder and Substitute Rider need to be there, or can the Substitute Rider collect the original entry and then proceed to the counter to do the substitution?

Their site / rules are not clear as to what steps need to be taken.

No i actually called the race office.. they just need the pdf howler ticket of the entry you are substituting at the expo..

if i supplied you the ticket pdf, you must go to the expo with the pdf ticket and do the substitution.. i dont need to be there..

Someone is selling an entry : https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/event-entries/768265/947-road-race-entry-centurion

But as mentioned above, the person would need to do the substitution at the expo this week.

Thanks for all the responses and advice - And biggest thanks to @Bike Dewing who donated his entry...

Mike will do the substitution on Saturday, and line up on the start line on Sunday - if any of you come across a skinny racing snake in Zambian kit, give him a wave - his nickname is Jungle, and you will recieve the biggest smile ever if you call him that (Hopefully he isnt looking too lost!)

Hi All

Taking another longshot here - but the last one worked out!

Is anyone travelling from Pretoria (Hatfield) on Sunday morning for the road race that may have space for an extra rider and bike?

Initial plan for Michael to get to the race has fallen through....

Here is a bit of a rant for me:  This is my 11th 947, so I was looking forward to wearing a yellow number with pride.

But alas, I was only listed as having 9 finishes, so white number for me.  Looking at the portal, I can see they are missing my 1998 finish. This result was listed on racetec for a while, but it disappeared from there around 2017.

Oh well, will just have to wait for next year for my yellow number.

I think if you have some sort of proof then you can go to them to have it rectified.

I've got 1 race missing from my tally (they have me as doing my 20th on sunday where I have it as my 21st), I've got the pics from the missing race, but I could never be bothered gathering all the info and getting it sorted.
