based on a fellow hubbers feedback I placed an order for 2 ykyw bibs, will provide feedback once they arrive and I use them a few times

I’ve done a good number of rides with the bibs now.

first of all I only got 1 bib, turns out when the wife did the order, temu did temu things and she landed up only ordering 1

they are made rather well, sizing is good, and the all important getting my junk out the front to pee is not a problem.

unfortunately though the chamois design doesn’t work great with my specific butt/saddle ergonomics and it starts to hurt on the left side after about 30 minutes as well as a small amount of chaffing happening after 90 minutes.

We have found that when Temu says "save xyz on your order!", all it does is remove an item (or items) of that value from your cart.

So yes, you do save. But you also don't receive everything you thought you would.

Ordered on 4th, delivered today:

Ryet Aircode, the shape looks near identical to the Belcarra v2 that I have on my road and gravel bikes.

I ordered two of the Souke bibs and I am returning them. They are not manufactured correctly - the reason for the "massive camel toe" is that the padding is stitched to far forward so I am not sitting on the padding at all and the part that's supposed to protect my perennial area goes half up to my belly button!

I have never experienced this before and it is weird - it must be a defect production run or something.

Temu insist on providing pics with the refund claims - they were not pretty!  🫣

I read your comment before ordering a pair of bibs hoping it was resolved. Needless to say they do the same and it is not useable.

Anyone get any decent trail shirts yet? (See they have MX type shirts, but my I enjoy my Ciovita too much).

25km into my ride this happened when I braked. Thank God I was not speeding down a hill.......I don't know so much about this brand. Won't trust anything with that name on it.

Yoh, that could have ended badly. Handlebars, stems and forks are the 3 things which I will not purchase from Temu. My teeth aren't the best but I still value their function.

there is absolutely no evidence anywhere on any forums that there are more failures from carbon bars, stems, forks etc bought from Temu  compared to higher end brands....

Fair enough - my - and some others - PERCEPTION is that there are indeed items of sub-par quality, coming in at a very-low price point; that there are inferior products on various deep-price-cut platforms, and I too, would be extra wary over ordering some safety-critical items...

A pump? Not a safety-critical item...

A front fork - very much a safety-critical item.

Perception is enough. And there are enough 'issues' around to create that perception.

Cheers

Fine line between "Perception", "Evidence" and the "Isolated experiences" ....

YES - name brands also suffer failures, but with full back-up these are typically a non-issue.

The ongoing debate relates to the various "quality streams" from Chinese firms .... there simply is no way for the end user to know if your order is excess from a quality line of unsold rubbish from another factory ... many videos on GCN about this, and it seems the only option is to check if the item has any sort of brand name which can then be checked for user feedback, but they point out that is not ideal at best.

Frankly it is a lottery .... non-critical stuff well worth rolling the dice ....

In our circle of friends, a number of items have ended in the bin very quickly .... typically non-critical items.

Based on our experiences my perception is to stay way clear of this for critical items.  No factual basis, just based on personal experiences.

My2 cents worth

After looking on this forum I have bought some cool gadgets and things off of Temu or Alibaba lately for cycling -  rear stop light, compact electric pumps, mudguards, some shirts and bibs (souke). All were at least a third of the price of the local stuff that is essentially identical. Their service is fast and efficent once you wade through all the noise. You also need to know what you want and be willing to read and research. I have also bought all sorts of gadgetry and trickery for my adventure bike - screens, covers, valve caps, fender eliminators etc. All are custom fitted for Triumph.  Some arent very polished others are simple and effective - all at a very reduced price for very similar things you get locally with brands on.

Simply put it isnt the BMW or Merc or Specialized or Ciovita site you are shopping on so use discretion and undertand that you may have some things that are a bit of a lottery - similar to what ecomeerce was like right in the early days.

I am highly likelt to use them again for things that i need and its very much become my go to site for everything i am trying to find as it has a massive scope of goods on it.

I dont care about brands ay more at my age and am happy to save some money on things. After all no matter the price of the watch it only tells the time, whether a Rolex or a Casio.

Anyone bought carbon road/gravel wheels off Temu? At around R5-6k it's an interesting prospect....

...although there is the concern about the resultant potential for expensive dental work 😆

Ok so I ended up ordering the "Kinan 35mm" road wheels. Arrived in a Kore box, no Kinan branding anywhere, Kore rim tape the only branding on the wheels. With duties total cost was about R5500.

Set them up tubeless with Specialized Roubaix TR tyres. Covered 160km on them over the weekend. So far I'm super happy with them. Freehub isn't that loud, whisper quiet compared to my Hunts. Had my LBS check them out and he was pretty impressed with the visual quality, rear hub appears to be a Dt Swiss replica.

Meanwhile GFS are still out delivering my November '25 order...

I see my latest order is supposedly with GFS :(

I ordered on Thursday night, and got  notification on Saturday to say it was enroute to SA, and to pay the customs fees to avoid delay.

Doesn't it need to reach SA before they calculate customs?

I haven't clicked on anything or paid, as I'm concerned about scams.
