Mon Dieu 👀 - I see coverage of the XCC late afternoon today and XCO tomorrow from Brazil on DSTV

Awesome. Any idea what times they are showing?

I've just seen a detailed ride-through of this Araxá course.  I'd love to ride it, it's both seriously challenging and loads of fun.  Women Elite starting now, this will be exciting.

How do they know it’s going to be 8 laps from the the start? Has the thing where they only decide the number of laps after the first lap is done

Yes they look at the first lap time and target 80-90min race time. No more.same with the XCC

Yes, but with this race they knew it would be 8 laps right from the moment the start gun went off. They didn’t wait for the first lap to be completed.

Oh sorry I misunderstood. The number Of XCO race laps is based on maximum allowed time and average pace of the riders during the have timed practice sessions in similar conditions. During the course practice the riders will try to do some fast laps to Inform their pacing. The commissaires will use those lap times to inform the number of laps from the start. They  can adjust the numbeR of laps based on conditions but this is rare and usually invoked if it starts raining heavily or it gets too hot during the race. There is allowance in the races for this. The XCC race laps is decided based on lap1 time.

Okay cool, my bad then, I seemed to remember the XCO lap count only to be determined after the first lap in previous seasons, but obviously I was mistaken!

what a ladies race though. Super exciting, and what a strong finish by maxwell. She couldn’t believe it herself when she looked over her shoulder on the finish straight and saw no one there!

and candice, well done girl! We all know you should have been up on the podium as well, regardless of what Warner brothers thinks!

this years ladies season is going to be fire!
