Brazil have definitely stolen our thunder here by securing this 2week slot of moving the entire circus to their equivalent of Nelspruit (or whatever else fits). Who did they pay off for this?

Not only stolen our thunder but it also impacts the Cape epic startline roster.

Colombo, Schurter, Braidot, Avendetto, all recovered quite well to have excellent races. One could even say the heat here helped them acclimatise somewhat for Brasil yet we had quite shallow depth in the Epic field simply due to travel budgets

I would say lets wait until the 4th round of there about to see how Epic has effected them or not

It was a good move when Kargo Pro MTB stepped up. They were there for Alan Hatherly and a couple of others. It's a pity it couldn't get the support to keep the momentum.

Coverage was pretty good - u23 on YouTube and the rest on Staylive's new portal. Almost no buffering which is a huge improvement over my last years experience. I do hope we see AH at some of the races. A second race at the same venue in Brazil is a bit of a let down IMO but will be interesting to see how the results differ...

ROund 2 is on a different course lay out and therefore will appeal to a slightly different skill set. More riders should be acclimatised too

Flip I missed the races! Thought it was this coming weekend.. anyways, where is Allan Hatherly?

Edit: Nvm, forgot he is a roadie now

Ha me to, was watching the race yesterday thinking where the flip is AH and the stripey shirt… took me half a lap to remember he’s focusing on the road

I just wish we could have had some footage of Nino making his way back through the field after that puncture. He must have put in a hell of a ride to make it back to the front of the chase group.

as impressive as the Spez combo was out front, it did get a bit boring watching them racing out front alone all day long. Maybe an extra drone operator to focus on the meaningful action further down the field if needs be wouldn’t be the worst idea.

accumulated fatigue?

Or possibly the opposite ?
Reaping the rewards of the Epic miles and everything that went with it.

Yes that way also If handled like a big block of training . We don’t know where they are in periodisation so I guess as John says, give a month or so.

for Nino I was working back from Lenzerheide later in the year to get an idea what he’s up to since we can safely assume the Swiss round and the world champs would be his focus being a week apart
