um, ok, to narrow it down further.

Phil Ligget has a house in Gordon's bay

Gerald de kock has been around the block.

Jonny Koen can talk the skin off a pampoen

Max Cluer is probably at some doef doef red bull snow party event

Neil Gardiner has been on the epic media team before Kevin Vermaak even went to Costa Rica

None of the above, you have too lofty expectations.

This is someone who does it out of his love for the sport, and concern for the cyclists being targeted.

Sorry to sound so obtuse in flogging this very dead horse. If someone is adding their name to an event to add awareness to it, wouldn't it be more effective if their actual name was known?

If you attacking wannabe then get over it, I've posted the name of the person (Shaun Peters)...and if you found yourself at any MTB event around the Western Cape for the last few years you'll know that's he's a famous voice on the mic's

If you find yourself on social media you can search him, it's on his profile which is public. So there's no secret

I'm not sure how cycling protesting works..

Do we cycle to the venue or drive there and cycle from there?

Will there be coffee?

Will I be detained like in 1987?

Is it still single file cycling, or is there a designated pacemaker?

Amandla! Shimano!

Showing your age there oom, i was only born then!

ok, maybe I am from the dark ages but that name did not ring a bell. My apologies, I don't want to sound negative here - the more awareness the better.

I tried searching the hashtag, and only this thread came up,

Now that you have given me the name  I searched and found this post

15 likes,  we had more people at the weekly critical mass rides at 7am on a friday 20 years ago.

I'm very happy to be wrong, but it seems this circle needs to be made bigger if you're expecting meaningful numbers.

(and before you ask, no I'm not personally going, already had a weekend planned in the overberg with the family)

Sounds to me that you are being negative although nobody asked your opinion. Come, don't come, do what you want. I hope many people will come, it can't hurt. worst case is it does nothing. Hoping for a positive outcome.

Just on my various cycling WhatsApp groups there are at least 50 attendees, and they no doubt sent the message on. So, we expect a decent turnout.

Then there will be Mayoral Committee members who will ride with us, as well as newspaper, and TV crews present. SAPS and various Security Companies will also be in attendance.

thanks for doing your bit @Wannabe
Bleak to missing this. I do know of at least 2 of the clubs on the cape flats who will be there, and some of the bike shops and groups from Woodstock and Obs too.

I can't take any credit for this, it is Shaun who drove this whole thing.

I just tried to spread the word and keep it current.

Pity you won't be there, catch you on the flipside.

No, you have that very very wrong not trying to be negative at all.  An effective awareness ride needs effective awareness before it starts. Sounds like there is going to be representation from press and local gov so that is a great outcome for all.

Funny how you are allowed an opinion but as soon as it doesnt align with theirs, then you are not allowed an opinion anymore.

I share your sentiments on effective awareness before the event, but lets hope the message tomorrow gets to the right places and the right people

....

and no one is mugged on the way home crossing the same bridge later in the day

whatever bru, someone is trying to do something peaceful to solve a problem for all of us, doesn't need random people behind their keyboard to tell them it's useless. That kind of attitude is the reason why nothing's being done about anything

Clearly the two us dont belong the right WA groups ....

This thread is the only info I have on this ride .... and frankly way more questions than answers.

Sure, very happy to hear the latest input, and that this will reach a wider audience.

The lack of info on the "desitnation" and the "return trip" details .... uhm jaaa ....

NOT being negative !!  It is as simple as that there are questions that needs answers.

My only gripe .... bought a bike from Shaun a few weeks back, and I am not on his list for this (or other) event(s).   Okay, I bought from the other Sean in the same shop

Yip. You're right.

Dont forget to carry a piece with you then. I'll read about it in the rags

Happy protesting tomorrow ✌🏻
