Event Name: The Stanford 100
When: 06/12/2025
Where: Stanford Hills Estate, Stanford, Western Cape
Category: Gravel

The Stanford 100 Miler is a 1 day dirt road bicycle race in the heart of the Overstrand.

All bicycles welcome. Gravel, MTB or E-bike

Did you know Stanford is the only Town in the Overstrand proclaimed a Heritage Site, in its entirety. Like the whole Town is a Heritage site.

Fancy.

Probably the best part of Stanford is its proximity to equally beautiful towns, Gansbaai, Pearly Beach, Hermanus, Franskraal, Elim, Baarskeedersbos and L’Agulhas, the Southernmost tip of Africa.

Following the massive back to back growth from 2022 to 2024, The Stanford 100 Miler, brought to you by the people who bring you one-of-a-kind bicycle race in the Tankwa Karoo, The Tanqua Kuru Bicycle Race, 2025 is set to become the largest gravel race in the Western Cape.

This race has been built from the ground up. Fresh. Real. Untemplacised with an unwavering commitment to create memories and adding value to the people who host us.

Join us for The Hunt.

Tally-ho!

Route:

Start & finish will be at the lush The Stanford Hills Estate

100 Miler - 169km - 2358 elevation - Start 07:30 - Strict enforced 10 hour cut-off

50 Miler - 77km - 1365 elevation - Start 08:30 - Strict enforced 6 hour cut-off

25 Miler - 40km - 500 elevation - Start 09:30 - Strict enforced 4 hour cut-off

This course favours the rouleur who is sharp enough to leave a bit in the tank for a few of the clever twists and turns towards the business end of the course.

After a short neutral section out of Town, hunters will immediately head South on some pristine gravel. Clay hardpack is the name of the game while you zig zag along the Uilkraals River.

You’ll eventually head in a Northerly direction and this is where the fun really begins. Rural, tarmac like gravel roads with two ‘bumps’ ready to the pack of the laggards. Over-cook the wet clay downhill sections here and it's not only new bike day, but also new clavicle day. More slippery than a greased weasel.

Get your steed over the last bump and all that's left is to channel your inner puncheur to the line.

The hounds will meet you at the village pub to revel in your success.

Tally-ho!

The sand is what hurt me - didn't expect having to push the bike so often, and it did drain me physically and mentally in the end. Beautiful route, well organised event. Was hoping to see some blue cranes but no luck this time.

I found myself praying for the sand to return on the never-ending corrugations, and then my prayers were answered and I cursed my foolishness...

Any idea how many riders started the 100? I want to make myself feel better about almost being the lantern rouge.

Results out on great-time.
