I built this bike up a couple years ago (Dec 2020) after I wrote my Basso off the day after DC (into an underground parking lot in Robertson.

Now it lives, minus the back wheel and brake calipers, on my KickR V6 trainer. Steel frame with Campy EPS

Here some   (bad quality 😬)  pic's

"Currently a vintage Caad. ,Pumped it ( powder coat) and put an old Dura Ace 7800 groupset on. Cracked Carbon bar. No wheels / no brake calipers. Kickr rear. Kickr climb front."

Made a few changes .... A little too 'minimalist' I guess

Added a 'dummy' left shifter purely to have an additional hand position, shorter stem and turn it 'up' ... Adjusted the seat nose down a little compared to my normal road bike setup. Certainly feels better now

As an aside anyone else find they need a different setup on the trainer versus their normal road setup?

Through a stroke of luck I'm no longer using an old 'guess' PowerCal power from HR calculating magafter ... it did the job to make it interesting but didn't really help if you actually wanted to race someone or do a planned workout

Using a 'proper' power meter is like flippin night and day!

Was gonna say my pain cave is now complete but is anything cycling related ever? Not at my house anyway 😜

Seems a waste to have it on a dedicated indoor bike that'll not have much use but since it would make no difference to me on my 'assorted' training bikes and I ride outdoors for fun not numbers I guess 😎

Is your saddle on straight?

hanger, got the closest possible from my trusty mate @GrahamW (jeez the knowledge and bits that oke has 😮 ) and then on his recommendation 'grinded' away at it till it sort of fitted

I use my 2007 Schwinn (full carbon, DA-10s gruppo); STIs were replaced with Ultegra by Grumpy, when he was still operating out of Rietvlei. He serviced it last year to ensure that I can take it outside whenever needed, as it suffered some IDT abuse for the last 8 years.

New bar tape, new shift cables and cable housing, bearings in the front wheel, a new cassette (for outdoor use, as I had already had a new one on the Kickr), and a service on the pedals. Brake hoods were done early last year. So the bike is back in “mint condition”, or “almost new”.

He even threw in a “clean & wax” for my chain, which has lasted quite a few rides, as promised.

That's cool! I notice though that you use it as a proper training tool, in my case it's purely to avoid EXTENDED rainy days out on the bike 😜

Happy birthday BTW 🎉

I try keep my set up the same, sometimes a bit difficult when you have road and mtb bikes in your quiver with more than 20 years age difference.

The most obvious difference I find is saddle comfort, the nose of the saddle always feels to low, instead of adjusting the seat position I fiddle with the front wheel height until the seat is level or more comfortable.

As a general rule I keep seat height, level and 'KOPS' (ja ja I know 😜) the same, the rest depends on the bike and some degree of comfort

Hence why I'm surprised that slight nose down feels better indoors ... Did my longest ride on that setup (1 hour) yesterday and all good

Maybe the whole bike was in a slightly nose up position when installed on the trainer so it felt better when you tilted the nose of the saddle down…. just maybe….

Anyway as long as you made it more comfortable 👍
