These threads are classic, every year.

1) Debate why entry fee is so high and higher than back in my day.

2) Seeding chatter

3) Early weather and wind chat / where to park

4) Expo is worse than last time an goodie bag complaints

5) More accurate weather chat

6) Fantastic day out, definitely back next OR the bunch didn't have experience and caused my wipe out or ruined my day so I fellback

CTCT related but at least your profile pic indicates that you may have previously entered the ACE.

I expect some team to hammer the prologue, Beers to klap the field on stage 1 with TN hanging on for them to move into Yellow with a nice cushion. Then blow up by stage 4 latest......

For Toyota Specialized Imbuko, the goal is clear: race aggressively, build partnerships and earn the yellow leaders’ jersey.

my armchair advice would be the opposite:

Nortje came 3rd last year, which must be the best so he is not totally out of depth here, but was a comfortable gap to Braidot and Avondetto who came 2nd and are back. The hammer needs to chill on the nail for the first 2/3 stages and see how the field plays out.

Thing is though, you can’t win the epic in the first couple of stages, but you most definately can lose it there, if the gap to the leaders is allowed to stretch too much.

most years it takes 8 days of solid, consistent racing to win the men’s race.

Glad Matt got sorted! He’s shown he can team up with a variety of partners. I think they’ll do really well (sure, they are not favorites anymore which could work in their favor)! I remember a couple of years back when Tristan's partner dropped out and he ended up getting great camera time sitting just behind the leading 2 teams with no other teams in sight.

That was some good riding of him

Let us hope the sun does it's worst this coming week only and that it cools off from next week on else it is going to be a war zone in Montagu and Greyton with many ending up in MediClinic with kidney failures. Looking at lower 40s this coming week in the Boland and surrounds.

Looks ok, with some rain predicted but other forecasts show hot days the 17th-19th as well as rain (thunderstorms?)

Gaze and the short track dude is the wild card here...

I also rekon Willier Vittoria will be up there all week long.

Agree with this plus of course Toyota Specialized and Alleman & Stosek.

World class MTBer and wipes out on an electric scooter in town... you just can't make these things up. The odds are ridiculous yet it happens. I truly feel for her, the amount of time and effort to get to this point is just off the charts.

Its the Epic curse.
