The elusive @snapshot spotted in the wild with her Cube, and the farm gate I bought.. 1st ride on the Cannondale was awesome, I'm *** unfit, also, the internet lied, 45c tyres don't fit the frame at the rear, I need a 40c.. oh and a longer stem.. otherwise, I'm happy and happy to be back on a bike first time in 8 years.

I bought a previous generation Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 towards the end of last year and it's nice to explore a bit wider than I would with the mountainbike. I still need to take it on a proper gravel ride but the few little pieces I've managed to squeeze in hasn't been too bad, might be worthwhile swopping the current 40 mm tires for some 45 mm's...

Quite happy with my purchase, the bike was still in a very good condition. I'll mostly be riding tar so it feels like 2x could work well.

A question about the Revolt and the D-Fuse seat post, how do I stop the cracking noise?  I have been to Dr Google without any success.  Next stop at some stage will be my LBS.

Never experienced it myself, (a creak, I guess, not a CRACK?!) and I reckon @ChrisF would not TOLERATE a squeak/creak (nor should he!), but lets see if ChrisF has a solution, or has ever experienced the issue?

Cheers

I had some creeking ... took the post out, cleaned every component.  Thinnest layer of lube, silent since

I already cleaned and lubed.  Didn't work.  My LBS said they will try some carbon paste.

Just 2 things to check; That post clamp has two pieces that move against one another when tightening it. Make sure to add some grease between these 2 points of interference and make sure you push the clamp down all the way into the frame when tightening it. I also used a bit of carbon paste on mine on the inside of the frame.
And don't rule out that the creaking might be on the saddle rails 😉

My money is on the saddle rails.

I did all this.  I started at the seat post with the creak, went to the pedals, back to the seat post and it seems that that is where the problem is.  I am not ruling out that it might be thee rails.

Should add, mine is the alu version.  It took two stabs at cleaning it before it went silent ..... touch wood !!!

I was ready to try a round post, my spares did not fit .... would be interesting to hear if this solves it.  Way too many moving parts in that D-shape design and clamp ....

Are you sure the noise is from your seat post? Check and clean your frame flip chip and through axle. I searched high and low to eventually find that the flip chip was the culprit...

Edit. Carbon paste is a non negotiable on the carbon frames. i applied carbon paste on all the moving parts and contact surfaces of the clamp assembly.

I narrowed the noise down to the seat post/seat.  Seated and pedalling, the noise is there.  Standing and pedalling, the noise is gone.
