Cycling Kids driven off the road - Cape Point

With blood boiling 🤬 I can only add; get statements from as many of the kids as possible now, ready to be repeated at SAPS, while memory of events is still fresh. Any independent witnesses and any photographs to be filed and ready.

I really think it is something PPA should be onto and the only other person to try is JP Smith, maybe someone higher up in useless SAPS.

What has this car done? It seems to be maintaining a safe distance from the cyclist. Is that the one involved with the kids?

I'm making an assumption here, but the original pic also had a cyclist in it who was wearing different kit to that of the club kids involved in the incident. That suggests the pic was sourced from someone who was driving in the vicinity that morning and happened to snag the vehicle on their dashcam footage prior (or after) to the incident.

It's not meant to be footage of the actual incident but rather of the offending vehicle.

The picture was taken by a motorist who chased after the car involved in the incident. The rider in the picture was not involved - i missed it by a few minutes.

if you're referring to the IG post, that's a running/cycling blogger so probably just her pushing the story to her wider circle.

Not sure if this is fair request but @andretraut is potentially one who could provide more information from the SAPS side of the story.

Only saw this now. How about laying the charges at ocean view SAPS? It's most likely where the kids are. It's more than one kid assaulted here so nothing stopping multiple complaints by parents.

Also, I'm in the area so have seen the groups often. Were any of the adult riders on the scene, if so did the driver go for the adult too or just vloek at the kids? I'm guessing you got there after it had happened.

Aa young adult was with the kids. I unfortunately only got there 5 min after the event. The driver went to SAPS and opened a case against the riders. SAPS Simonstown is now refusing to accept a case against the driver - the Investigating Officer won't allow it.

Was responding to Solly's request for clarity about the pic posted earlier in the thread showing the golf passing another cyclist.

I see motorists are so ******* aggressive they're now shooting at each other... tf has gone wrong in this country in the 12 years I've been here. I remember when I left france thinking people were so chilled on the roads here, now it's the opposite. France has become super chilled after years of heavy policing, licences getting suspended after just a couple offenses and very expensive fines. Seems the stick works afterall and SA drivers deserve a lot of it..

yes also where I'm from in Lyon. but even outside of big cities the last few years I never got hooted at despite the roads being much narroer than here, sometimes cars are staying behind me for so long I feel pressure to go faster (when did you last feel that way here? They'd run you over so that they don't waste a second of their time).

The shift is possible, but it takes a lot of policing and it's not popular (I hated it, thought my freedom to drive the way I wanted to was more important), but got to give it to them that it worked. On the other hand it generates a lot of money for the government.
