Cape Town danger areas

This morning on Victoria road on the last corner entering Bantry Bay I was about to corner at speed when out of nowhere comes this twat waffle in his white VW golf and tries to over take me on the corner. I was moving at around 35-40kmh so naturally I am unable to keep far left. He then passed very close and started hooting and shouting out his window while cutting in front and then brake checking me  :cursing:  :cursing:  :cursing:

Did I nearly loose my cool with this box!!! Only he seemed very irate and clearly wanted to use his car as weapon so I skidded to a near halt and just waved him away.  Only for him to get stuck in traffic!

I refrained from any confrontational behavior as I rode passed and cooled myself to try and enjoy the rest of my ride!

All areas are dangerous so be vigilant!

Good job for easing off... as tempting as a squirt of your bottle through an open window may have been.... no sense in antagonising a dwiss to to further dwiss things

R44 outside stellies next to Cloetesville:

one attack thursday last week where my riding partner was pulled off his bike. He needed some stitches and the bike needed some tlc afterwards but nothing was stolen (probably much thanks to the kind motorists that stopped immediately to assist us).

and then an attempted attack on 2 cyclists by an armed person this morning. Thankfully the cyclists were able to avoid being pulled from their bikes.

Going up Chappies today from Noordhoek side before you reach lookout point over Noordhoek beach I was keeping far left as the yellow line is on edge of tar road, I get passed slowly by motorist  who moves over middle line to pass me. Following him is a guy in white Polo (numberplate SCAPE 3-WP)  hooting at me, making rude gestures with middle finger repeatedly. As he is a few meters away he swerves his car to edge of road back and forth and then gestures rudely again with his middle finger.

Please be safe out there hubbers. Seems he has an axe to grind.

He is obviously jealous.

Also the kind of person who wants to be cross and aggressive. Shame man.

I trust that you just 'smiled and waved'?

Hi All

Please see below a post from one of our commuters who had a close call this morning.

Hi - Narrowly escaped being mugged this morning, just after 7h30. Was just around the Zoarvlei station, where the factories start on the left, please click on the link below for the map point. 2 Chaps, 1 sitting on the fence and 1 standing in front of him. When I got close, the guy standing ran backwards stringing a rope in front of me to take me down. Fortunately I managed to swerve away in time through the shrubs and bushes onto the bus lane and escaped. Reported it to the security and metro police on route.

Please warn all commuters of this MO and spot. It is a prime spot for muggings due to the quick exit they have, it is a wonder that more people are not mugged here.

Thank fully was not me, but a rider from our regular group.

Still recon, in a group, the cycle lane is far safer than the N1 option
