TitusTi Posted March 13, 2007 Share For a couple of Bob extra' date=' you could wait for the new Oakley's. I think they are called Radars and the launch price will be around R1,250 according to the agent at the expo - very nice, and they are Oakleys which are normally worth the additional cost. [/quote'] Don't do it these things are horrible! Rather get the proper Pro M-Frames. More details TitusTi, What don't you like? Were a couple of the teams not wearing these on the Giro? Give us the inside tar-less track? Don't think too many were wearing the Radar's? These things are big and ugly, they don't look fast at all, massive chunky plastic frame and the lenses! It's like they ran out of designers and they had to rehash some of the blades again, anyone remember those, that's what these are, the updated blades and not in a good way. pbp2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Share erm...Hey looking to spend around R600 Chris Wavering between hyperventilation and hysterical laughter, it's occurred to me that I may just inhabit a separate universe, one that doesn't include sunglasses that cost more than my entire last season's BIKE. ... er, I go with the D'Arcs. Just think, if you lose a pair in a crash you've still got half your budget left. On the other hand, with the alternatives suggested here (erm... about R600?) you would not only look cool (debatable) and see better (yeah, right) you would climb faster thanks to your wallet being considerably lighter. slowpoke Posted March 13, 2007 Share ShortLegs, i am restricted to those that can take relatively heavy and "thick" inserts. this is not optional and i cannot simply use contact lenses etc (the lenses for my rudy inserts cost me just over r2500 cos they have to use special high density material) so i'm even restricted as to which adidas frames can work. as far as that goes the rudy's were by far the best. the only addidas that can work were the evil eye's and they really looked yuck
Jamm Posted March 13, 2007 Share Fair Enough TitusTI, But aren't you supposed to be punting for Adidas? Seem to recall somewhere that you featured in a recent ad...?
TitusTi Posted March 13, 2007 Share They paid me to pose to talk nice, I currently have Adidas, Oakley and Specialized of all of them I think the Oakleys are the best thought out for racing but the Specialized have those adaptalite lenses (cool), the Adidas are ok for wearing to the beach and chilled out rides. Dr. Seuss Posted March 13, 2007 Share oakley or rudy - problem i have with oakley is that the arms are too thick & cause problems between the helmet & ear - rudy does not have this problem. all fine & well to go cheap with the glasses until a big stone smacks you right in the center of the lens @ 65km/h. scratched my rudys. but at least the glass did not shatter and i still have my eye. slowpoke Posted March 13, 2007 Share dr seuss, that's also a very nb point. i had a similar (but slightly slower - about 50-60km/hr) incident with my old bolle's and also just a small scratch - no cracking or shattering
ShortLegs Posted March 13, 2007 Share Hey slowpoke, point taken. I don't have your problem but even if I did, I'd wear Oakleys and bl1ksem off quite a bit. Oakleys do prescription lenses, but might be a little more than R600 me thinks.
Marius Posted March 13, 2007 Share i got the addidas evil eyes and it says "Anti Fog" but it fogs up, so don't get them.
slowpoke Posted March 13, 2007 Share ShortLegs, a couple of the oakleys take inserts, but only the evileye can handle the strong-script lenses (that i'm aware of). to get script lenses (actual lenses as opposed to inserts) is not an option as the deviation in thickness of lens (even with extreme high-density material) means uneven tint with all the related issues. one of the problems of truly bad eyesight (i know someone who is legally classified as visually disabled and if i don't have my specs on he sees better than me!) Therefore it could be seen as a breach of contract to punt another product, especially on an open forum.Something to think about since how you decide to handle this could affect future sponsorship opportunities... Just a thought

Just a thought Sorry typo, Bicycling paid me to pose for the shot, nobody pays me to adjust my opinions on things. I like what I like, I don't like what I don't like. Simple really, sorry for the misinformation.
