  4. I wish I had one
  5. What headset have you all tried? Maybe look at a 45degree ACB (angular contact bearing) these are the bearings which sit inside the silver cups pressed into giant frames and are available from giant dealer and go for about 200 rand, I know the ones which come in giant branded boxes are FSA headsets as I inyalled one last week, the silver cups on the picture look very similar to the giant set up except it seems these in your case are mouldsed into the frame. A list of what you have tried might help, we could go with a process of elimination
  6. You could try an appropriate sized cap screw(allen key head) with a matching nut and some tiny washers. Have replaced many broken pins with small stainless cap screws try it you don't have much to loose just remember to loctite the nut in place with appropriate tension so der can still move.
  7. Why Why that frame and components to hot for words
  8. Truer words have never been spoken
  9. I honestly wish SA had a commuting culture I would gladly ride to University but I can't leave my bike there for the following reasons: 1) My bikes are expensive, lets face it I don't want them scratched or damaged or stolen 2) There is no where safe to store gear such as a helmet 3) There are no facilities to have a quick shower or clean up if you are sweaty from the ride in. 4) Free State drivers are't bike friendly Don't get me wrong I love riding but no matter how much I want to commute its dam near imposssible.
  10. I grew up around bikes like that as far back as I remember I was around them. Start your kids young and cycling will have a great future and the pics are to cute for words
  11. Sometimes the worlds most random items come in race packs
  12. I love my mule, but LOBO as also awesome
  13. I am hell bent on attending 2013
  14. A garage pump has far to much volume to pump that seatpost, a seal could have blown as a result. Contact shamus on the hub he's is the agent for bicciletta, can help you. It might need a service. Basically that seatpost works like an air shox. Chears
  15. I would also like to join the rant and have a few points to raise: 1) I am still to see that a 29er in my size exists, I am 167cm and finding a decent 16" 26er is hard enough. 2) Some say that angles don't realy work or still haven't been perfcted on 29er in my size (small) a medium has a short stem and this odd kink in the seatpost it looks odd. 3) the big wheels accelerate slower and can be a bit "lomp" in the tight stuff it funny to watch a someone who can barely stay up right try to negotiate technical on a 29er 4)lets face it 26er has over 20 years of development behind it and if you had to add up each different manufacturers development thats easily over 100 years of thought behind the almost perfect 26er. 5) I might get altitude sickness from the extra height especially on a full susser 6) Spares availablity, and the wheels are stronger on a 26er for those of us who are hard on wheels (might be small but ride hard) 7) I am tired of being discriminated on for having a 26er I am student and I can't just buy buy buy. I realy like this forum so don't burn me at the stake P.S I heard Chuck Norris still rides a 26er, can't argue with that logic
  16. I will follow this thread but as I weigh 58kg losing weight for me might be a problem But good luck ladys and gents, just bear in mind that the goal is a healthy weight not super skinny or anarexic
  17. I know the guy who bought one of those blank carbon frames, Seems to be holiding up so far but I just won't bee able to trust it
  18. Never any bending but the bearing life isn't that great and they can't be rebuilt like more expensive counter parts
  19. I personally only ride Thomson seat posts they are great posts. Strength and weight are spot on and there is a small amount of compliance especially on the layback versions. As for stems I would like to go for Thomson but any decent stem will do right now I have a Rithchey Pro stem (To go with my. Bar) but in the past have had Specialized, Pro PLT ect, personally I think any stem from a good manufacturer in the right length will be 100% but if you want them to match up Thomson it will have to be. Just go for the Thomson stem which has the "normal" 2 bolts steerer clamp (I think its the x4 not 100% sure there) as the expanding wedge system sometimes jams (not sure if they even still make these but just thought I'd mention it just in case) Nothing wrong with a Thomson seatpost stem combo, and if you get it you will be the envy of many rider.
  20. SRAM has bought ZIPP, I know it doesn't help but hey had to share this cool news

  24. Check rock shox website manuals are available, if you cant find it PM me and I'll email you a copy. Could possibly be that oil has escaped from the stantions and is laying in the bottom of the castings, or there is something wrong with the dampener itself Best is to open it up and followi Bright lights advice along with the Rock shox maual. Chears
  25. SLX, good quality, spares available, large amount of aftermarket bb's available (ChrisKing, Hope, Race Face ect) and can use an enduro kitt to replace the original bearing in the shimano bb once its gone. FSA has a bit of a bad reputation for realiabilty Stylos are good but limited bb choices, I know Hope makes an adaptor for its bb ans you get an aftermarket enduro kit
