    RECM Knysna 200

Ok I'm out. Chest infection and resting heart rate 40 higher than normal means it would be irresponsible and stupid of me.

    RECM Knysna 200

I'm still 50/50. Developed a cold and trying to decide if should ride. Would hate to dnf but I might have to.
  3. My riding partner disappeared behind me the other evening. After a long wait I finally see him approaching using his iPhone as a torch after his light died on him.

I will see you there, look out for team Robogym.
  5. I bought an Epic comp last week, it's just ready to ride off the shop floor. No need to throw away the skinny 135mm saddle like the Giant or Scott for example. The double crank gearing is perfect while the 940 has a triple. The anthem is very stable but slow speed handling can't match the Epic with shorter stays. I just don't find a compromise with the Spez. For me Scott lockout makes no sense. When do you lock out? Not on a rocky climb because you need the traction so why call it climb mode? The brain will open and shut many times on that climb. When you're riding a short course and want to accelerate the brain is ready to go. Plus the Epic is red, what more do you need.
  6. Thanks for that, got a new Epic last week and was wondering what to about the notorious bb.
  7. How long does the shuttle take and what time does it normally leave?
  8. You will need to use a fixie though, otherwise the wheels will just spin by themselves. But yes the video is really important.
  9. I have allot of respect for the way you handled this. Keep riding your bike, the best times on a mountain bike are with friends not in events.
  10. It seems so obvious to me. Before the referee awards a penalty go to a replay. If it turns out the playing was diving he gets a red card. Nobody will dive under those rules.
  11. Basically no chance for you guys ... I will be there.
  12. I'll take that Give me some light rain rather than 35°C heat any day.
  13. What he said. I spent allot of money on a IDT with real life video courses and still it's so boring I would much rather ride rollers or jog. I do sometimes use the IDT as a stand to set my gears though.
  14. I've been researching a bit quickly and this seems the best reviewed solution. http://www.rei.com/product/752285/bike-peddler-take-a-look-mirror A plain old optical mirror attached to your shades or helmet visor. The image quality will be much better than a digitized one on a 3.5" screen.
  15. This is unreal. If you think a Dogma is overpriced and the difference not discernable for most of us buy a generic original design frame. Piggy backing on someones design and brand is stealing plain and simple.
  16. I recall most pro's running a disk so I assume they did the maths.
  17. The Garmin Swim is R1500. It will count your laps and give you your time split for each lap as well. Or you can get the Garmin 910XT which is a complete triathlon watch which will also count your pool laps.
  18. Agreed. Sometimes you just want the bike to feel alive.
  19. Can somebody explain to me why it was decided that a XC bike is better for dirt roads like Karoo to Coast than a trail bike. How is the steeper head angle beneficial when you are going in a straight line?
  20. To the 910xt owners out there. When you use the courses feature can it display your location on an elevation profile like this screen from the Edge 500?
  21. In some cases yes. In other cases they have seen the results of this failed social experiment. You shape your environment by your actions so would you like to get up behind the computer and take a walk outside to see there are no actual shops or people out there? It's the same with buying meat from the supermarket as supposed to your local butcher. 2 Years down the line you realise you are being held ransom because one corporate is controlling your life. From my observation the real first world environments are the ones where people have started supporting their butcher and are living as a community again. Edit: Not all this applies to CRC because there are other factors at play like local distributors taking us for a ride and their massive range.
  22. There you go: http://www.easybike.co.za/components/disk-brakes.html
  23. Yes that's the way I did it. Will try and push on to 3:00 for the next one. Can anybody give us a 45km split time to make the 3:00 cycle please? I know it's weather dependant but on a good day how much faster is the return leg?
  24. I normally average ~34 km/h at the Argus, OFM that sort of thing. My 70.3 bike time was 3:10 for an average of 28.5 km/h. Because I only do this once a year it's difficult to pace oneself. You can't just ignore the run to follow. This time round I will be aiming 3h cycle, 2h run, 40m swim plus transitions.
  25. You definitely get the back pack as your goody bag when you register. Also the quality is not such that I would purchase one separately.
