I'm in that area every December and those "rollers" I know very well.. They're proper, even when I am fresh. Can't think to do them after about 300km in the legs.

I've done 2x 7 day CPTs a few years ago. Did the Epic back in 2009. CPT was the better (and harder) race. Took much better care of the riders. I think the 5 day CPT is a nice compromise, and perhaps a good seeding event for the Epic hopefuls? Best rider experience must still be between Sani and Berg & Bush?

If you want to ride on the road, Tiekiedraai, Contermans and Visserhok is on your doorstep. Mixing these up in loops will prepare you well.

Exactly - did my training in 41 C into Swartberg and of course into the Hell... Learnt a lot w.r.t. fluid management.

I was a juvenile and junior when Willie was at the start of his transition from Maties to Pro. Spent a number of hours training with him. He was in a class of his own and poetry in motion on his track bike. This is way too young... RIP champ!!!!

2004 Campag Centaur 10 spd... 76 000km across 2x cassettes and 16 chains. I replace the chain every ± 5 000km. Still original chainrings - all in a great condition

Wow, I am also in the Cape over December. Never realised that the R304 is an issue. Normally goes either in or out of Stellies towards Bellville/Durbanville via Bottelary or Klipheuwel. I would imagine R304 only an issue close to Kayamandi?
