  1. On my way to another bachelors weekend. Beer, Biltong, Braai, Broodjies, Brandewyn diet AGAIN for the next three days.. Been training hard and keeping on my eating plan around 4 days a week trying to counter the cheat weekends these last three weeks, so I'll settle for breaking even this month. Checked this morning and I'm 92.1kg. 500 grams down from 1 Feb, but I doubt it will stay like that after this coming weekend. Actually to be honest I thought I was going to be back up to 94/95kg already with the way this month is going, so not too bummed about that!
  2. Yes they basically fit like hotpants. I only wear them under my jogging shorts for when I commute around 20km to where we actually go for our run. Don't really notice them while I run..
  3. I got a pair from Aliexpress or Wish..just paid for the shipping that was something like R30. Took around two months to get here.. Just order two or three sizes bigger than what you think you need
  4. Yuup.. usually just a 250ml Futurelife shake for breakfast.. I see they call it now Clover Active Drink, not futurelife anymore.
  5. Haha, spotted you a SRAM Fanboy from a mile away..
  6. I agree, somewhere between the third and fifth gear I always feel like there is a cog missing on the 11-50. But on the 11 speed it is a sacrifice I'm willing to make to get that range
  7. I always have a good laugh when I see Bike Addict advertise 1x11 XT can be "upgraded" to 1x12 Sram NX for R3000 more or something like that. In what world is going from XT to NX an upgrade.. By the way OP.. I've recently started running 34T 11-50. Shifting is not as crisp as it was on 11-46, but after a few rides you don't notice it as much. I might need a hanger extension..it's cheap and will probably sort it out. Maybe go for 34T oval 11-46 if you have some money lying around for the oval.
  8. So in theory.. no eating carbs in the evening.. during your nights rest fat cells release fatty acids and glucose into bloodstream.. in the morning you get up, go for a fasting ride. Your muscles then uses the glucose released from fat cells during the night as energy for your ride.. And that is why morning fasting rides help so much with weight loss? I guess it makes sense. I used to ride with energade/powrade on my morning rides when I was still super unfit. I thought I needed it for energy to survive even a short 20km MTB ride. I didn't loose weight like that. My body probably then just used the new glucose from the energade/powerade I pumped in during my ride for energy instead of the reserves released during the night. Now I only take food or powerade with me if I'm planning to ride 3.5+ hours
  9. Up in Paarl Mountain Reserve.. that's smoke from the Franschhoek fire, not clouds Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  10. That dude in the lead is from Brazil. He posts some raunchy girls on bikes with all his rides haha. His profile was open until someone here asked about the company he rides with..then after that he turned it private
  11. That's almost 33 000 meters.. Also not too shabby Must be a commuter living in the mountains or something..76 rides in just 50 days so far
  12. Don't lie Myles! I'm sure you were all to eager to show off that "New Me" body to the soccer moms at school..
  13. Frank is an absolute legend!! He was the main reason I kept going back to Bike Addict!
  14. I have the Scott Vivo Plus. They are obviously not completely high-end as the Centric Plus, but I hope for your sake they come with better inner pads! The inner pads on the Vivo Plus is horrible at retaining any sweat! Halve way up a 600m climb my sunglasses are completely covered in sweat and I feel like I'm wearing a divers mask. To top it off, I then have to store my sunglasses in my back pocket because it doesn't fit securely on the helmet..
  15. Ja I'm not having a great month so far.. One bachelors weekend, one valentines weekend.. next weekend again a bachelors weekend. I stick to my eating plan on average only 4 days a week this month.. Still keeping more or less on my training/exercise schedule. Actually dropped from a 38 to 36 pants size this month, but the scale reads the same as the end of January. I feel so flippen tired every Monday morning when I cheat eat like this over the weekends.
  16. I cycle 5-6 times a week. Average 130km 2500m climbing per week. Run twice a week. Average 10km per week. Then with the runs a bit of intervals and cross training. I want to start increasing my upper body strength training a bit more. Maybe twice a week working on that going forward. And I also want start doing intervals on the bike now and then instead of just going for a ride.
  17. I've only had mine for a few week..60km or so. I'm very happy with them on the trails so far, very comfortable. Yesterday we did some interval training on a gravel road, and today I'm sitting with a stiff knee and my heels are sore.. But that might also just be due to the fact that I'm new to running and my fitness isn't what it should be!!
  18. Also did a scenic ride last year on my first go. Aimed for 6h30min, did it in 5h45min. I'm already 15kg lighter and much fitter than I was at last years K2C. Aiming for sub5 this year. Already struggling to find accomodation that my wife approves of...
  19. I'm 1.84m and on a Large Spark RC. When I went for bike fitting I was marginal between L and XL. My guess would be you're going to be marginal between M and L. If only it was as easy as just considering your length to make a choice.. Is there no bikeshops where you are at now with new Sparks you can feel the M and L before making a choice?
  20. Ah I see now.. It looks horribly bulky! They need to streamline that whole lefthand side of the handlebar.
  21. That twinlock lever looks so old?!?! Or what am I looking at here? Or is he just running it upside down?
  22. This looks almost like my eating plan.. Every morning Coffee with 2% milk and no sugar before my ride. After my ride, Futurelife shake with a banana. 10:00 Tea with 2% milk and no sugar and a fruit, like an apple, pear or orange. 13:00 Coffee with 2% milk and no sugar. One slice Rooibos Rye bread, 2 eggs, and a knife point mayo. Sometimes I switch the egg for tuna or chicken. But 90% of the time the eggs. 15:00 Tea with 2% milk and no sugar. In the evenings is when I mix it up. Usually something in the line of skinless chicken breast with broccoli or veggies. Other times a choppie/steak with salad, or fish and veggies. Maybe once or twice a week a little bit of rice added to a meal. I never feel like I'm going hungry. No processed foods like ham slices or viennas..no potatoes, no pasta, no white bread. That stuff is only for a cheat meal over the weekends. And have enough smallish cheat meals so you don't fall off the wagon and give up completely. I still braai and enjoy my beers over the weekend..more than once a weekend usually. And count the calories!! No need for three choppies or a 300g steak. One choppie, or 150g steak is enough for a meal..You'll eat again soon in the morning, not like you going to starve from hunger until then. I try and limit my intake to 1500-1800 calories per day. MTBing or running on average 1 - 1.5 hours per day. Steadily losing 1kg per week. Almost 35kg down living like this..
