  1. Yes' date=' since the frictional force stays constant (kinetic coefficient of friction is fixed), power must increase linearly with velocity. The trick will be getting the felt pad to be applied with the same pressure every time.[/quote'] and measuring speed... and measuring cadence.. unless you have a better spinning bike than the VA ones!
  2. what is the difference between the system 6 and the super 6
  3. who were the 3 medalists at the 96 olympics? ullrich and another 2 sttoges - all telekom
  4. you'll have to go and do some laps around kyalami.... hmm last time I was there was feb I think
  5. and ryan cox??
  6. Aww, bicycling is great value, through discovery it costs like R6 a month or something. I love the section with the full page pictures of places in SA and roadies MTBers - this is worth R6 on its own... and who cares if it is late. cyclingnews.com gives you news that is up to date within 6 hours, any magazine is going to be a week late... and for articles like '6 tips to build better abs' 'winter weight control' 'your first 100k race' etc it does not matter if they are a week or two late. One thing (Tim) that annoys me is that the published prices of new bicycles are really high - higher than any bicycle shop, this is misleading to the consumer.
  7. I'm going to spend my winter months with a nail file trying to get rid of my 'lawyers lips' - just in case i puncture during a race and I can then save 1.5 seconds!
  8. ave HR = 147, hope the next 2 years are spent training/riding a little harfer Fanie.
  9. I'm sure the new RC3000 retails for about R4500, might be able to get a 2006 model (almost identical) for close to R3000.. if you haggle a bit. I (personally) wouldn't go below the RC3000
  10. jaa, in that price range getting an older (2006, or 2005) model that fits her will be good value - still new from the bike shop, just old stock. Can any body remember what the specs were on the pro?s bikes in the early 80?s and what times they did 100km? Specs were a fair bit worse than todays bikes, 100km times were muuch slower than today (excluding Merckx)
  11. the groupset (moving bits!, gears, crank etc) on your bike is sora which is bottom of the range, tiagra is one step up. Then 105 (which is good and if she is really going to cycle a lot - then this is the way to go). I've got a Fuji and I'm very happy with it. but for R3000 raleigh would probably be the best value for money (any budget raleigh is the best value for money)
  12. Grapkas, I think any team that had a 50-50 chance of getting into the tour would start some pretty serious training. Doesn't mean they will get the place. the BW kit is almost identical to the almost completely new look Cofidis one.
  13. funny how the SA press have anounced BW's invite when the TDF organisers haven't issued the three wild cards yet... from pezcycling: Unibet Or Barloworld? The final three team invitations for the Tour de France are expected later today with most pundits believing they will be given to Astana, Agritubel and Barloworld. In fact, I reckon you could lock Astana and Agritubel?s invitations in right now ? the only one that is under any doubt is Barloworld. Could the poor, unlucky soles at Unibet still have a chance of being invited? If I was Baden Cooke for example, I wouldn?t be getting excited yet, but imagine if they did get invited? A more fired up team on the startline you wouldn?t see with all of the riders desperate to prove themselves and show the world exactly what they can do against the best. Alternatively, Barloworld have pushed hard for a few years now and I?m sure they feel they deserve their place ? more so than Agritubel anyway, but Barloworld isn?t French of course! We will soon find out?.if Unibet doesn?t get the invite though I?d say we should all get ready for another round of court cases people!
  14. Widget I completely disagree!! "Hmm, yes sure Linnega, but I think it must be mentioned, Edgars runs an account based book, retail shops like bike shops get cash for their goods. Obviously, on an account based book, prices can be somewhat inflated as the company waits for its money for extended periods." This is how these stores make their money! they pay their suppliers late (3 months) and charge there customers interest on any debt - at very incompetitive rates... which is how they make most of there profit! If a bike shop takes 6 months to sell a bike he is still waiting six months for his 'cash'
  15. Am I going mad or is some one trying to sell milkshakes to reduce or increase cadence
  16. Jaa, he has done really well.. maybe its because he is a 'worker'. With Hunter I always think that there is a small chance of him getting into a break or taking a sprint - however small that chance is.
  17. cos he's scottish?
  18. hey i'm up (down) to 23%, halfway to racing vets
  19. WTF, Luke watson is as black as I am???!!! More worrying is the omission of D. Hougaard. How are we going to win the world cup without an exceptional kicker?? And if we aren't planning to win it why be bothered?
  20. Club100: depending on what group you ride within the club it has everything - hardened roadies, really friendly guys, girls, super competitive racers, fun riders, promadonnas on $$$ bikes, young old etc. also has a MTB section (which I have never ridden with) http://www.club100.co.za/

Whooa my Fuji is lighter than the SSix AND the F413. Not that weight is such a big deal but its like discovering that a Mazda has more power than a Ferrari.

Cannondale System Six - overpriced, cannondales first attempt at a carbon bike , weight? think-you have to take the SI cranks as DA wont fit - TCS guys might be correcting me. Specialized S Works - Looks great, Marius hasn'tbroken it yet so it must be really bombproof Pinarello F4:13 - Dont the Protour guys ride the Dogma rather than this one. Bee - utiful, but cost Aaaaa, I would love to have either of the three.
  23. AB out
  24. AB hits a boundary - all is well
