I would disagree on that. I bought my giant anthem 2 years ago. R50k bought you a sub 11kg dual sus with carbon rims, gx eagle group and fox elite fork. Same model now still retails around R50k, but with nx group, alu rims and cheaper fox fork.

Agree on doing swartberg pass. George trials are amazing though. So many options. Best to contact the hillbillies mtb club to direct you to the best options, as your time is limited. When doing montagu pass, I always join from the outeniqua pass side (second entry), missing that quarry. I have never seen/met any suspicious characters from the tollhouse upwards.

I am currently using expired gels during training, no issues so far... however, I did have one nasty incident with an expired GU gel. That thing was nasty and came out quicker than I consumed it...

Thanks, will double check. But they only started to squeel once I poured water on them during the bedding in process. I will check if they are shiny already. I hope not. Did not see any leaks when I installed them. Will check the rotors as well. Cleaned them with brake cleaner, might need a bit of sanding.

They were quiet until I poured water on them.

Just installed new pads (semi metallic) on my level TL brakes. Previous pads were very shiny on the surface. Cleaned the disks with brake cleaner (rag had black residue). Then followed the parktools method of bedding the brake pads. Added water. Jeez these pads squeel worse than n pig. Is it normal for new pads?

Interesting topic. I have purchased new pads for my brakes, but how do I know the rotors are still in good condition?
