  1. The battery life is very good. We probably change them every 10 months or so, and thats with a daily weight in for each of us. The one thing that irritates us, my wife especially, is that the kids jump on and then weight themselves. The domestic has also done it on occasion and then for some reason they manage to override the ?? on the screen and save the stats under one of our profiles. And you normally only notice the next day as when you stand on it it doesn't recognize your weight and associate it with your profile, so then its then a manual process of going into the app, deleting that weight in, letting the whole system sync and then getting back on so that when you weight yourself it once again can associate your weight with your profile, and then save it accordingly. Bit of a chore but its maybe 2 or 3 times a year so not that much of a deal.
  2. I've had the Garmin Smart Scale since they came out. Picked one up in the states long before they were available in SA. Basically is is a scale and it does what its supposed to do. It syncs with my wifi first time every time (never had any issues, but i have seen a lot of complaints about the wifi connection on forums) and it uploads my data into Garmin Connect. Works well for us as my wife and I only use Garmin watches, cycling computers etc so it fits in well and adds value within that ecosystem. I see that they have just launched the Smart Scale 2, DC Rainmaker has a good review online, but the colour screen and weather app isnt going to to make me rush out and upgrade. Im very happy with mine as us and ill use it till it dies. They unfortunately are not cheap, so unless you have a number of Garmin products and it can integrate into that system it may be better going for a cheaper option as the data they provide is all the same, it just depends what platform you want it saved on.
  3. Im still seeing sponsored ads in the classified feed when viewing on the mobile site. See the attached pic of the Ridesmart Lights as the current example. It does however seem to change daily. Is there anyway to turn this off completely, as my settings are set to show no ads?
  4. The new site looks good but its overly complicated. Why so many categories? Surely in most cases a stem is a stem? Why split everything into Gravel, Road Tri and MTB? Also the picture thumbnails are too big when browsing on mobile, it just feels like you are scrolling endlessly and thats only on page 1 of however many. Infact in my opinion the thumbnail size when using the search function (showing search preview) is adequate, its only when you go into the specific item that you need a large image of the item.
  5. Will they then also be stocking them for purchase? If not, what is the shipping cost to JHB? Also, when will the demo unit be arriving for us to test?
  6. We need a few details to try and help:Wheel size? Axle type? V Brake / disc mount?
  7. Results...
  8. That was tough but fun Unfortunately my Kickr dropped connection just before the start so I had to restart my laptop. By the time I got back in you guys were already more than 2km up the road.
  9. I've entered, username 'jweiner'
  10. Its a nice frame and ive held onto it for sentimental reasons, but ive come to the realization that i will never need it or ride it again. Its not super collectible, like some of the earlier Zaskar frames, so all i really want for it as i mentioned in my first post would be a donation to an animal charity. Im not fussy, but i think a few hundred ZAR might just help a with a few meals for some rescue dogs. Im not sure where you are based, but we usually support FORA or Husky Rescue up here in Jhb.
  11. No problem. The frame actually has both disc and V-brake mounts ????
  12. Maybe its just me, but on this new site I cant find the list of highest rated hubbers anywhere? In fact just finding the members list took ages, and I don't even know how I got there. Lastly, how would you go about editing a comment / rating you have left for another user? Is there anyway you guys could make it easier?
  13. Ive got a cutdown FSA 27.2 carbon post. If it works you can have it with pleasure. How long does it need to be?
  14. Ive got an old alu GT Zaskar Team frame hanging in my garage. A few years back I stripped the clearcoat and started polishing the frame, but never got around to finishing it so it is currently just has a bare brushed alu finish. The frame is XL, takes 26"wheels and has QR dropouts and disc mounts. If you are still looking let me know. A donation to an animal charity is all I would really want for it, and we would just have to arrange shipping as i'm in JHB.
  15. So I managed to pick one up last week on a trip at duty free for a decent price. It does sound great, and really fills the room with deep rich sound, although I can honestly say its not that much better than my 7 year old Bose Soundlink II. The Tune-In Radio and Spotify integration are awesome, definitely sets it apart from all my other bluetooth speakers. My one big disappointment is that the Alexa / Google assistant doesn't work in SA, or at least I haven't found a workaround.
  16. Did you buy it locally or abroad? I would love to get one now but there is no way im paying 70% more just to have a local warranty. It can wait till im traveling again in a few months time.
  17. Ive been debating if i should wait for these or just go for the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless buds. The one thing that has really put me off the Sony is the fact that they offer no IPX waterproof rating which means they wont be any good on the IDT. The Sennheiser on the other hand tick all the boxes. Im not too fussed with NC, as i use XM2s for travel, these would really be for indoor training and for carrying with me all the time for a bit of privacy at the office or on the Gautrain etc. Anyone using the Momentum True Wireless buds that can offer any feedback?
  18. Thanks. It took a while to work out exactly what I wanted to do and how I was going to do it, but in the end it all went to plan and turned out fine. Basically all it took was a few hours with a Dremel to either enlarge existing holes or create new ones. Ill post a few pics tomorrow to show how the build progressed and what I did and where.
  19. Have to agree with you on that. So much so that I decided to rebuild my 11 year old SystemSix this past weekend with the new Ultegra Di2. A few mods to the frame and now all cables are run internally. A new wheelset, cranks and carbon bars and i've got the perfect 'training' bike'
  20. Yup i got this from him last Saturday in response to my wanted ad... Hi Friend i just sow your post now about what you need hope this is not coming late because i have it, if yes kindly get back to me with more details okay Thank davidchristopher177@gmail.com
  21. Ive skimmed through the last 18 pages and cant find anything on how you guys are mounting your phones on the bars or stem to use the Zwift mobile companion app. Has anyone made their own phone holder, or maybe 3d printed a Garmin male quarter turn mount? Alternatively what reasonably priced over the counter options are available locally?
  22. I was travelling yesterday when I heard the news of Barry’s passing and since then I have really been at a loss for words. As soon as I heard I called my wife but she had also just seen the news and was in tears. We had been following Kevin’s FB updates daily praying for an improvement but yesterday’s news hit us hard. My wife and I met through The Hub almost 10 years ago to the day (2007 Argus Hub Breakfast ride) and in the early years the hub was a place we would spend hours on every day, we knew almost every member personally. Barry was one of those people and through the years we would catch up at various hub and cycling get-togethers, be it the 6 hour MTB events, cycle race expos or the mine dump rides he would organise. As other have said he had a larger than life personality with a super sharp wit and his passion for things was infectious. He was a wonderful person that always had time for others and someone that we will remember fondly. Rest in Peace Holly Roller. Thanks you for all the good times and the memories and our sincere condolences to your family and those left behind.
  23. So I sold the 848 Street Fighter a few months ago and got this to replace it...
  24. Some of the bikes currently in my garage...
