  4. If anyone is keen to join us we will be training at Suikerbosrand this coming Sunday. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> There will be 4 or 5 of us, but it?s a closed reserve with a one way road, so you can ride at your own pace and not get lost. Meet in the car park (the one close to the N3- see map). Gates open at 7, to leave for the ride at 7:30. Can do 1 or 2 laps, one lap = 58km with 1140m of climbing. Bring some lunch, water and sunscreen, it might be hot. Hope to see some of you there, Enjoy the weekend!

    Wheels

i got the Easton XC Ones, in Jan, and i love them!! they are light, 1590g, damn strong, and the bearings and free hub are as smooth as my zipps! you should be able to get them for around 5k. the only negative is that are not tubeless. but nothing a stans kit cant solve.
  8. I second that Thug, it was really a lot of fun, and the breakfast was great! Thanks MichH for organising
  9. Great thanx Mampara. Ill be there, see you guys and girls in the morning (oh and if anyone needs a lift, drop me a pm, got space for 2 more bikes. ill be comming through from the Bedfordview area)
  10. Are they going to be selling tickets before 7:30am??
  11. when is the race again? and isnt George out this year with some sort of wrist injury?
  12. shame BG, did epoh and jules make you sweat yesterday??
  13. 36% gay , what ever that means....?
  14. because its timed by winning time!!
  15. The shifting has nothing to do with the brand of wheel, but with the setup and spacing of the cassette. i run 3 different wheels on 2 bikes, all 10 speed Shimano, running ultegra cassettes and they all shift perfectly, no matter what combination i use. Dura Ace / 105 whatever, its all good. trick is to keep it all clean and lubed properly at all times, and you should be fine.
  16. Last year this time i used my Ksyrium SL on the trainer for a few sessions. it felt great, and worked like a dream. then i took it off to clean and put the normal road tire back on and noticed hairline cracks at every single point on the rim where the drive side spokes / nipples screwed into the rims!! actually at some points it was so bad i could see right into the rim!! had to replace the rim 3 days before argus last year! not easy or cheap! so i will never put my zipps, or my ksyriums on the trainer, the rollers yes but not the trainer! i got a set of those cheap shimano R550's and they seem to be fine after months of abuse on the trainer. so yes i would say get a dedicated trainer wheel, and get that orange conti trainer tire. makes life so much easier, and the tire is quiet, and lasts for ever.
  17. Personal preferance really. What have you used before? Ive had the GP4000's on my race bike for about 18 months, and only had 2 punctures, both in races in the wet, so im very happy with them. they also seem to last for ages, although mine are going a bit square! also that thread starts to come off the tire where the beading is, but thats minor. I love the Gp4000's and will be getting some more tommorrow at the expo hopefully.
  18. Come ride with epoh and myself in the Illovo bunch. The group is a lot smaller and the guys are usually very well mannered with regards to letting cars have right of way. 5:15 at the Total Garage Thrupps centre Oxford Rd Illovo Tues to Fri!
  19. was the Kormarant race i think. i started watching the program half way through the coverage. It went over hekpoort so it must have been that race.
  20. wasnt it Douglas Ryder??
  21. Damn thats a sweet frame Titus! I used to ride the Apex, and i always dreamed of the AXIS TT!! (Didnt Dave Weins used to race on that?)
  22. I had two road bikes set up with him a while back, and Arron charged me less for the second bike beacause the shoe and cleat set up was already done. If i remember correcly it was R350 for both??
  23. Move to the side of the bunch (usually means you have to cross the white line ), then slow down and spit. Thats what most people do. But i did find the other day, on arctic tuesdays am ride when my throat was burning on the sprint up Silvias Pass, that if i swallowed, it would soothe the pain in the back of my throat!
