  1. Same happened to a buddy of mine with a Garmin The Garmin loses sattelite connection for a bit of time around chapmans peak and thus does not time for that period so your riding time is less by a minute or so. Thats why you need to get a polar.
  2. Im sure if you ask the coaches they would indicate that you probably need to start training with more intensity than you would have for the epic. The shorter races are at much higher intensity so you should probably look at some threshold intervals or 20 min hill repeats or something like that.
  4. I bought myself some mavic crossmax slr wheels a year ago. Have done about 2000 k's offroad on them and they are still going strong without any problems whatsoever. They are still running true and all the spokes are still tight. All I have done is service and oil the freewheel hub during the year. A friend told me that the crossmax nipples are a problem and that they fuse onto the hub and then you cannot get them loose. Is this a general problem with these rims? If it is, then what can be done to prevent this from happening ? could one loosen each of the nipples and put some Grease/oil/white lightning/wd40 on the nippple and retighten the nipples again ? have anybody had this problem and or fixed or prevented it from happening?
  5. Anyone heard anuthing about Sudafed. Is it supposed to be performance enhancing and thus a banned substance ? Does it really make u ride faster or harder or give you more endurance ? or is it just bogus nonsense ?
  6. does anyone know if there's a weight limit on the manitou r7 mrd forks?
  7. Willehond So how much money did all of this cost in the end ? ps. that sure looks like a very very potent light indeed..
  8. What would you guys consider as the best XC fork available under 1.4 kgs for a guy of about 80-85 kg's
  9. I have not had the privelage of trying out the spez fasttrak lk 2bliss, but from all the people that have them I have only heard good things. They roll very fast, are strong and lite for a 2bliss (80g lighter than the crossmark lust) And at R275 per tyre it is worth it.
  10. You have to be just skin and bone cause you are the first cyclist I know that does not want to loose a couple of kilograms....
  11. excuse my ignorance but how is legspeed going to increase your climbing ability. I thought by doing training on climbs you increase your climbing ability ?
  12. Oom H, daai rotor moet "Al dente" gekook wees. Sag dog ferm.
  13. 620g! that is very decent for a tubeless tire. My Crossmarks LUST weighs in at a hefty 700g. Might try some of these if they last long enough. Does anyone know the kind of mileage one gets on these ?
  14. what is the weight and rolling resistance of those Spez Captain 2bliss tires ?
  15. If you really dont want any tubeless problems then do this: 1. Fit proper UST tires. (their beads and sidewalls are made for this) 2. use stans or joes. 3. have a spare tube on all rides. If you follow these simple rules then you will not have problems. I have been tubeless for over a year and have not had one problem or puncture. I have had many many thorns in my tires and also one major 6 inch nail (just pulled it out with a pair of pliers and the stans sealed it in no time). I also have not had to use my tube yet (touch wood) I know lots and lots of guys that use normal tires and some tires work and others does not. They burp, run off the rims etc etc etc. So my advice is to heed the 3 rules above and you will not look back.
  16. Pain behind the knee normally comes down to your saddle being too high, but it can be an overuse injury because you are training much more than you are used to. Try and lower your saddle a centimeter or so. Even better get a proper bike setup from a place like cyclelab for instance. If the injury persists then you are going to have to take some rest days. Remember that even when you lower the saddle the pain are not going to go away immediately. give it two or three weeks and see if it goes away.
  17. The last couple of weeks I was also feeling dead tired and my legs were very stiff as well. going up a flight of stairs was a nightmare for me. I changed to two interval training sessions a week 3 weeks ago and im sure that is what caused my tiredness and sore legs. I spoke to a personal trainer I know and he reckons that I didnt get in enough protein to do muscle repair after my rides. From monday I started to concentrate on having a protein shake after my training ride in the morning. then I try to eat my carbohydrates during the day and in the afternoon I stop at 5 with the carbos and try to eat only vegetables and protein only in the evenings. By wednesday I was feeling much better and could actually stay with my training partners again. My legs were feeling strong again and my tiredness during the day was much less. Today is Friday. I cannot believe the difference in the way I am feeling today compared to last week this time. My legs are feeling fine and I can actually get up the flight of stairs again. although it still hurts a bit at the end. I was scared that the extra protein would add weight but to date I have actually lost some weight since last friday. I will continue to take the shake in the mornings and watch my eating habits as it sure is making a difference up to now.
  18. whats dif between this and slowmag for instance ? they both provide essential magnesium to the body.
  19. conditioning might work for some, but some people just cramp more because of various other problems that we cannot pinpoint. I used to cramp even when going slow on a training ride. I couldnt work that one out either. So again I say it depends totally on the individual and what they eat and drink or maybe don't eat and drink.
