  1. The old timer who lived their died of a heart attack - I almost did too the first time I walked in there. However - believe it or not - that was NOT the worst paint job in the house! We repainted EVERYTHING, in the house, before we could move in. I still get stick from my mates about the garage when they come visit! There is actually 3 bike up there now with the new addition - all out the way of Mrs da Buther`s wicked parking skills.
  2. Here is what I did with mine - Mrs Da Butcher dont like them in the house. Took 10 min to put up. Excuse the bad paint job in the garage - previous owner was a M series fan - in the 80`s
  3. If she is in school with a chop like me - everyday would be a tough day. Hopefully its just me
  4. Try the B.A.T. seal kits aswell. They are based in Centuirion - Bicicletta
  5. Coaching is more about making someone believe in their own potential rather than starting every sentience with "Im my day............" I want to have theoretical backup to opinions but more importantly someone that has the knowlage - if I can find this in someone who has done it and been there before, even better.
  6. No mate - never heard of it. In reality the steerer diameter should be .25mm larger than the race/reducer - you cant have any play there - its just going to cause the headtube to crack.
  7. I cant tell you why there is play - and ther shouldnt be - but I do have an option. I bought a Ritchey tapered headset but the bottom cups of the headset differs on diff models. Most headset bottom cups are 55mm - actually 54.74mm - however some of the new models are 56mm - 55.95 So I have a crown race and a 1.5 - 1 1/8 reducer bottom bearing if that will help. Let me know if you are keen - make me an offer. As for your actual question - no idea why and there is deff something wrong!
  8. Had a good time trying to stick to Eldron`s wheel but came unstuck in the wind and could not get back on. Loved the technical stuff and the drop down to the river was a revenge to ride as oppose to acquiring real estate like last year. Most of the back markers were friendly and let us pass as we came through and had a good time. However - One gripe - 2 of the Exxaro development riders on 2 sep occasions just pissed me off! Didnt call to pass and cut me off on a tight corner - I kind of expected it so I held back a bit and managed to avoid a bad crash just before the drop into the river. Then as everyone crosses - this douchbag decides to jump in front of everyone! The guy in front call him on it, and we give him a quick rundown on riding etiquette. He gets his panties in a twist, but has the legs and carries off in to the sunset - no problem with that but just be polite. 20km later - another of the Exxaro guys comes past and tries to cut insdie in a corner - I dont mind if you want to pass but just let me know you are coming!!!! I can hear you with the wind blowing if you dont call. He is very upset with the injustice being done to him as he races off - caught him again 5km to go. I dont mid if you are stronger/faster/fitter than me - just be polite and call which side you want to pass. Had another junior passing in the last km - as he calls track, I move left, he wanted to pass left so he goes into the back of my wheel. No damage, he apologizes, I ask him to call a side next time, he acknowlages and we work together to the finish - no problem. Had a good time - next time Im sitting on Eldron`s wheel - till the 25km mark!
  9. Mine did the same a while back - it would 'flicker' whem passing the magnet initially but then stop working after 10 - 15 rotations. Turn out the magnet - small black one - is a magnetized cylinder that 'loses' its charge after a while. I bought an old school R 30 wheel magnet - no problems since. Maybe check that.
  10. You can get seals via www.rushsports.co.za - they are the agents for Enduro seals locally
  11. Give that man mass produced beer!!! Lekka Klip! Nice.
  12. Looks like the hangar is bent - just take it too the LBS and have then check it - or find a hubber with the tooling close to you - it takes about 5 min.
  13. Just service the BB - its prob dry at a certain spot. Waterproof grease will prob solve your problem - check that the nylon holder that the bearings run in isnt perhaps broken.
  14. See you there Smolster - first beer is on me. What I mean by that is if you finish ahead of me, I`ll by you a beer - if not, that beer is mine. How much more motivation do you need?
  15. It should last longer - about 1500km depending on the riding conditions - I lost one after 400km on summer. I prefer Shimano`s cassettes but sram chains seem to do better. Sometimes its just bad luck.
  16. I used some other clamp - it was about R 80 - spez was R 160. No issues and had it for about 2 years now. Come join us anyway Cav - no sprint points on the day - but we can swop out and compare - and no, bikes only!
  17. Xankt(?) I think, just get a cage with a lip that holds the bottle, these were cheap, about R 120 or so. Dont go with super light weight, get something that holds propperly - Spez cages are great but not the cheapest. I choose function over brand name. WR 1.0 - let me know when yours is done then we`ll meet up with B-unit and M.B.P. for a Groenkloof ride! Post the pics mate!
  18. Its a quote from "The other Guys" Keen to see the climbing - is feels very nimble - feels very much like the Bulls HT I have. Hoping that the 3.5 inch travel will smooth the rest out - Like ManBearPig said, very responsive and doesnt give you the 'bobbing" feel. Frame weight feels great - hoping for some real trail feel!
  19. Frustrating - Mrs da Butcher gets pissed every time I clear her herb garden from the porch, but the brakes stops me before I plough through the azaleas. Venzuela want to ride - she`s a peacock, I need to let her fly!!!!!
  20. Here we go - Venzuela is alive! Had to machine some parts to run a GXP crank on the PF30 shell but it works lekka! Decided to go pressfit GXP over threaded GXP - personal preference. Going to test it this weekend at Groenkloof - very happy with the weight - feels lighter than my Zula that had all the cabon - will have to get it to a scale to conform but I think its around 11kg. ZTR crest wheels Sram X.9 - 2 X 10 Crank Bros Cobalt 2 cockpit Hope X2 brakes Rockshox Reba 9mm QR Very keen on testing it out. Funny thing - bottom cup of the head tube is 55.95mm not 55mm like others. Im have some adaptors made to run Hollow Tech & GXP cranks on BB30 bottom brackets. Let me know if anyone is keen.!
  21. Im old school - Aluminium frame and banana for race fuel. I dont buy something I cant fix myself. I like to have confidence in my equipment - I dont have that in electronic shifting or lockout yet.
  22. Formula was just too much hassle for me. Clearance was minimal and I never had decent stopping power from them. Had them serviced & bled twice but nothing changed - maybe a dud set? Im sure they work if you weigh less that a small bag of potato`s but they just didnt work for me. XT or Hope is what I recommend.
  24. Roadworthy is about R 250 i think - that will mean R 10.42 per month. Im willing to pay that to get the rest of the crap off the road any day! Happy to Rica my drivers too - it will flush out some of the fly-by-nights
