  1. With all due respect ........................ there are lady riders and then there are LADY riders 😵 Have you watched the most recent Women UCI downhills ? Mad cow disease is for real man 💀
  2. Bent RD hanger perhaps causing excess torque from the cassette straight onto the inner side of the top pulley wheel axle screw. That could explain the chain coming off at certain times. My 2 cent's worth. Might be way off the target here, but with me 😝 it does happen sometimes.
  3. Hoop jy kry hom terug 🙏 Bliksems 🦨
  4. I trust you put hubby's toothbrush back in the bathroom after you were done 😳
  5. And then the thread turned into a "woke" debate .......................... Send-it guys, tomorrow's mad Friday 😝
  6. Yep, talking of flying objects ......... the African muggies are hardheaded bastards. They will give your bike a decent "go" 😝
  7. More Franken-monster than this you will not get. 1994 Gary Fisher 26" HT (CroMo Steel); 3x8 with Cantilever Rim brakes; TL 2.2 front & 2.35 rear. Building one of these from scratch gives gravel biking a whole new meaning. Did some rivnut implants in the fork and downtube to fit panniers racks and cargo cages for touring. The 3x configuration gives me plenty gearing options for gravel and/or touring. A brand new cassette and chain costs less than 500 bucks. Chainrings probably R600. This thing is indestructible and the most fun to ride you'll ever find. Why share this you might wonder 😏 ........... There are indeed other options if your budget is as challenging as mine, PLUS you do not have to sacrifice the fun factor due to limited funds. Old's Cool I say
  8. It's Bottelary Hills for me ............................... 😏
  9. Informative video Phil 🤙 Yet, in Africa you find bricks behind the wheels of 16-seater people transporters
  10. Since you lot are so stingy, why not simply rip the chamois out of your bib, and fit a cool Oskava sheeps wool cover over the saddle 😝 Problem solved 🤙

    Bib Shorts

I have been riding Anatomic Platinums for the past 15 years and decided to give the Ciovita Apex Scudo a go in 2019. The Ciovita is a brilliant piece and sits oh so sweet, BUT the Anatomic is better. Anatomic uses a gel pad design where Ciovita does not(or did not when I bought mine). I find the Ciovita fits better. The Anatomic however seems to protect the essentials for much longer. Majority of testing time was spent on many DC's, TB's, Half 36ONE's and a few Hundred milers. Had a nasty fall a couple of years ago and Anatomic patched up my bib free of charge. Had the leg grippers also replaced recently - free of charge. I paid for the shipping to their factory in Parys(FS) on both occasions. Visited an Anatomic stall at Rheebokskloof the other day and I was pleasantly surprised at how low their prices seemed after having purchased a bib many years ago. Ciovita is good and they are local, but I will go for Anatomic. Good luck
  12. Absolutely fishy ..................................... If not, I will take 2 🤔
  13. My experience is not high-end bike related, but theft of bicycles. Had an incident many years ago where 2 perps got into my garage and stole both brand new 20" kids bikes. Within a hour I apprehended both these shoppers myself. This is where the chaos started. I contacted SAPS with the 2 secured on the ground with the help of bystanders. SAPS started tossing the case between 2 adjacent stations, since the theft took place in a different municipal area from where I caught them. Eventually I had to personally transport these gentlemen and the stolen bikes to the SAPS station in the suburb where the theft took place. Why tell you this story 🤷‍♂️ To SAPS these kind of incidents are a schlep and they are not interested in the paperwork associated with events of this nature. SAPS could not care less if every bike on the roads got stolen. No realistic prospect of recovery, unless by pure chance - as in my case. The above drives the insurance industry to behave the way they do. My heart goes out to everybody whom falls victim, but the best prevention is to not get it stolen in the first place. Yes, it is easier said than done 🤬
  14. Say, hypothetically, doping was legal - would these same guys have been slogging it out against each other? Hell yes ................... Armstrong, Ulrich, Contador and the entire crazy bunch might have still been racing these young guns 😜
  15. A 5701 was listed in the Classifieds 4 days ago for R750
  16. Some just love being loud 😏
  17. Check out the Microshift product range. They appear to be doing well overseas and are available in SA. Apparently compatible with Shimano components, ie. RD/FD cheers
  18. It is a myth that all alloy wheels are heavier than carbon wheels. I would rather go for good alloy wheels than a cheap/budget carbon set. My 2 cents' worth.
  19. Yes ................ old's cool 🤘 I have kinda gotten used to my rattling cables inside my carbon MTB, but it is a PITA. Choices, choices
  20. Nowadays horses smoke more than cars ........ 😝
  21. Attempt to secure the frame in a drill press in order to execute pressure at right angle to the tubing. Pilot hole first with a sharp 3mm bit before going 5 or 6mm. Apply tape to protect your paintwork and needle punch the spot if possible. The tape makes it easier for a sharp bit to stay on the mark. Good luck 👊
  22. Steel, yes ........ I have personally installed many rivnuts on forks and down tubes. Loaded my bike with panniers and cargo cages over rough terrains without having any of my DIY's fail on me. Alloy, naaaah ....... I believe that you create multiple fine hairline cracks in the metal around the hole which are not visible to the naked eye. Alluminum is prone to crack under stress especially where heat is introduced. Yes, there will be many success stories - probably since the riders are not aware of the hidden damage they have done to their frames. Simply not worth the risk for me. Carbon, hell NOOOOOOO
  23. Yep, overtraining does exactly what Robert says. Me thinks 🤔
  24. Jbr, To those old enough this is the exact Engen Dynamic race route of the early 2000's. The race ran from Nelson's Creek estate between Windmeul and the 4-way stop to Wellington along the same route as this one. Hope y'all had a good one yesterday. The wind was a nuisance.
