  1. Great news about your parts Chad. Some sentiments on this forum are worlds (a)part. Let us rather be part of the war on part prices and part peacefully. Your part, my part ....................... who cares a hoot in any case 😝
  2. Thx Graham, Came standard with 1.95 back in the day. I'm running an Ikon 2.35 TL on the back now. Dropout clearance is very tight BUT I've had zero issues with mud clogging or wheel removal. The 2.35 provides some comfort at the back. 2.2 profile up front with lots of clearance.
  3. Was'nt me Tyron, Did the 2021 36ONE Half on this bad boy. Try to pick up a complete donotbike rather tan a frame. Steel frames are pretty hard to come by at decent prices. Fortunately I bought my Fisher brand new in 1994 and simply could not part with it. Decided to pimp it to a gravel monster in 20/21. The geometry is awesome. I did my nut to keep it kinda stock. There was a time when rim brakes stopped the pro's like Fisher and Ritchey well enough. Why would it not stop anybody well enough today ⛔️ Keep looking for a frame. You will not regret taking your time on a project like this. Good luck 🤙
  4. 1994 Gary Fisher Tassajara steel frame, 3x8, Cantilever rim brakes Drivetrains components are readily available locally and dirt cheap, ie. R180 for a Deore chain or R250 for a Deore 8Spd Cassette. The chromoly steel frames are more forgiving than your average carbon equivalent. I luv my 26er. Best ride eva 😎
  5. Hi Tandemuis, I will not start a new debate, BUT I had a Spez Epic Comp 29 dual suss of which the rear triangle snapped. Having been the first owner, proof of payment, ZERO signs of abuse and, and and ..................... no replacement since the frame was older than 5 years. Their "Lifetime Warranty" means less than the government's promises to stop fraud. Very good mate of mine had the same happen to his Giant Anthem 29er - same reaction from Giant. I am not bad mouthing anybody - simply stating the nett result of the fine print. Cheers guys. OP, hope you get your dream ride 😍
  6. Gotto agree with RobertWhitehead, "Lifetime Warranty" is also defined as the expected lifetime of the bike, not the rider. This "Lifetime" have generally been clipped by most brands at 5 years from the date of purchase. I know for a fact that Scott, Giant and Spez have this policy. All smiles if the above have changed in recent times, or if I am wrong. There's no freebee's any longer 😒
  7. My best friend rode off with my girlfriend 😭😭 Hell, I'm gonna miss him
  8. It depends ................................... Are you the reason they are not together anymore 🤔 Asking for a friend
  9. Is it a brake light you are looking for 🤔
  10. Where's his thread going to 😝 Let's get a housewife from Silver Lakes to sort this guy out. The one I have in mind "detailed" her hubby's Ferrari with a baseball bat after some mild domestic issue .................. Imagine what carnage she will leave behind if this lycra-clad redneck crosses her path while she's strolling her pooooooooooodle.
  11. OP was interviewed on RSG this morning just after 06:00. The call to flush out this dingbat seems to be gaining momentum. Life in general would be sooooooooooo cool without these "roaches" Shame .................... I suppose he was bullied by the girl across the street 😵
  12. Built myself a gravel monster with a 94 Gary Fisher 26er. Rigid steel fork. Converted the 26 rim brake wheels to tubeless. Group is Shimano 3x8 STI with cantilever rim brakes. Gravel bars up front. I have a 29er Carbon dual suss and a carbon Giant TCR roadbike. The 26er gravel bike is the best of em all. I could ride it all day long. When all's said - your personal preference is king.
  13. babse ......... Does the "slightly elder folk" refer to old toppies behaving like 21 year-olds, OR 30 year-olds with dentures rattling in the wind when they open their mouths 🤔 I recall the 2011 Argus when guys were elbowing and sledging one another that would send the ozzy cricket team packing. Sometimes this behaviour is the closest some people will ever get to being good at anything ............. SAD 😥
  14. Gotto agree with ChrisF, Put your money where you feel respected for your patronage. A few local spots in the Cape winelands pulled the Meerendal stunt, and it cost them ........
  15. By the cafe Mambo turnoff. Dead straight, flat, widest shoulder you will find in CPT, perfect conditions. Drove past the scene minutes after it happened. Lots of vehicles and "helpers" on the scene. A driver has to be blind, drunk or seriously distracted to hit anything at that spot. 🤬
  16. Anybody got a Bells for DustyDiesel .......................... 😝
  17. Entitlement in Oz is as prevalent as it is in the UK, US, SA and, and ........ The issue is problem parents - not problem children. Getting my stripes regularly as a kid(1970's) did not turn me into a onderbroek donning menacing oom. Getting my gat set on fire every now and then, taught me valuable lessons in life. Why is it always somebody else' s fault 🤬
  18. Nic White .................................... where the hell was Nic White when this happened 🦨
  19. I'd ride certain brands of tyres with plugs anyday, then there are brands I will not touch even when brand new. Generally, if a plug was inserted properly and as mentioned, tyre sealant used, the plug should outlast the tread. My 2 cents' worth
  20. Between Fox and Rockshox ....................... I'll take the Magura

  22. That's the spirit Cois ???? Now for carbon wheels, ceramic bearings AND 2bless conversion. A lift-kit perhaps for those rocky sections ???? Stay strong mate. You CAN nail this thing !
  23. Tiger, A few rules of thumb will apply to this race(my opinion): 1) The "burn" comes after 170km, hence you need your tiger in the tank from there on up Katbakkies and beyond(70km to go). 2) Do not overcook the first 170km, since it will cost you dearly. Naturally one would tend to send it due to the relatively flat terrain. 3) First 140km - eat like an ethiopian camel after a hunger strike and focus on a predominantly liquid fuel regime from 150km. Hydrate properly from the start. The heat will take it's pound of flesh ???? 4) Follow the same training program that have worked for you on the 36ONE on Race2C. Good luck ????
  24. Hi Chef, I ride Helshoogte often - mostly in the mornings 7-8 and then 10-12 on the return trip. I have never encountered any issues with the locals, BUT the odd stray dog might be a bigger risk when blitzing down the pass into Stellenbosch. I have had the occasions where smallish dogs dart across the road or indulge in road kill on the shoulder of the road. For this very reason I would not cycle Helshoogte at night. I am not implying that there will never be incidents, but above is my 2 cents' worth based on personal experience over the past 15 years of riding in those parts of the winelands. Cheers
